The Porcupine Puffer is very intelligent and has been known to recognize its feeder and perform small tricks. Be aware that this fish can be semi-aggressive and is known to nip on tank mates' fins. When choosing tank mates be sure to pick other semi aggressive fish that can stand up to the puffer. Aggression can be amplified in smaller tanks. The Porcupine Puffer is not considered reef safe since they prefer to snack on sessile invertebrates. This colorful fish will inflate its body when threatened, so to prevent this from happening try using a container when transferring the fish instead of the net to avoid them from ingesting air. They will grow to be about 12" in size full grown adults will need around 180 gallons; however, you can get away with smaller aquariums when they are juveniles. This puffer is tan with brown markings and black spots.

ACCLIMATION: Avoid exposing new aquatic life to bright lights after opening the box. Turn off aquarium lights prior to floating aquatic life. Allow the sealed bag with your new fish to float in your aquarium for at least 15 minutes (but no longer than one hour) to ensure the water in the bag matches the temperature in your aquarium. A bacteria booster addition can assist with the addition of new aquatic life. Petco offers free water testing in store to determine if your water is safe for the addition of new aquatic life. DIET: A well-balanced diet consists of a variety of flakes, pellets, freeze-dried and frozen foods, depending on the species. FEEDING: Feed sparingly and no more than fish can eat in 1-2 minutes. Overfeeding can quickly foul the water, especially in smaller aquariums.
If we need to contact you for any reason about your order, shipping of your package may be affected. Once your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email with your order summary. Orders are subject to verification of payment information by phone or email.

I have a green spotted puffer. I was wondering if it could be happy with an algae eating fish in brackish water?
Hi, My fish has white spot which is expanding. It also has something around mouth. Spot looks white with small dots in it. I thought it is an ich outbreak. Currently tank is treated with Sera omnipur (30% of recommended dose). It is big pufferfish. thanks for your help Nikola
I have a two year old african pygmy hedgehog. He seems to have a pinkish blister behing his left ear although it doesnt look infected. Is somehting wrong
Hi my horse field tortoise has a slight small ball like bulge to the left of it's jaw. Only came today.
Hi, I just got a fish from a friend and I don’t rlly know anything about that fish, it’s rlly small(about 4cm) and I want to know the breed of the fish and how to take care of it. Thanks you
So I have been thinking about getting a new caged animal, but am not sure what to get. I am hoping for a fairly easy animal to care for (AROUND the same "hardness level" as care for a Crested gecko), and one that doesn't need tons of (tank or cage) space. Also, I saw a Cowfish on a YouTube channel, and I thought they where cute, so I tried to find its care online, but I couldn't find anything. Nor could I find someone selling one.
My razorback musk turtle, got it for one and a half weeks or so, still small, has a yellowish white lump on its front leg. Like acne. What is this? Should I be worried? Thanks for your help!
Hi, so I got a green spotted puffer from Walmart about a month ago but recently I noticed how his stomach goes a spotted dark gray but as soon as I pay attention to him it turns white yet when I stop and leave then come back it's grey again. I just don't understand if he's sick or not?
We recently bought a Betta from a chain store pet shop. He is currently in a 10 gallon tank with a heater. He’s been eating and swimming around, acting fine. The first day we had him I noticed this bump. (Didn’t notice in the petstore but hard to see in those cups they keep them in) Here’s a side shot. Looks like one tiny fluid filled bump, size of a scale. Any ideas?
I have a freshwater pufferfish and he isn’t eating the fish flakes like the other 6 fish in the tank (red tail shark, clown loach, and tetras). Do they need to be fed live or frozen food? He also butts into the aquarium walls here and there. Is this caused because of stress or anxiety? If so how can I fix that as well.
Hi, I bought 6 platy fish and a black corydora catfish about 2 weeks ago, all seem in good health bright colours and swimming round as normal they are in a 48l tank which the pet store said was a big enough tank for them all, but one of them seems to be loosing his scales or I’m afraid he may have itch but it dosent look like it I hope you can help, thanks.
