Nice product at a reasonable cost

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a really nice product. We typically use Airmax. I didn’t see a huge amount of change in the algae growth, but that could be just due to fluctuating and temperature this time of year.

Water feature must have!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have a small, outdoor landscape pond that we try to keep all natural. We have fish, natural rocks, native plants,etc...and have allowed it to build up its own small bio-sphere. Unfortunately, when the summers get really hot, it tends to get an algae build up that requires intervention. API's Pond Algaefix has worked wonders everytime. The excess algae dies off almost overnight and the water is back to being clear and healthy. Best part is, it has never harmed my fish, or the plants. 100% recommend for outdoor water features

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is feeling like Springtime. Getting this pond ready and doing what we can to keep the alge at bay. Safe for my fish and plants. Once a week I will shake it, then drop a cap full in the pond and the green will disappear!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently bought a house that has a pond with fish and had been looking for something to keep it clean from the algae. I'm so glad I received this product to test because I think I've found the one. It's very easy to use, and the maintenance, once weekly is very easy to maintain. This product is stable and makes the pond look and remain clean for the fish. The fact that it doesn't expire absolutely helps too!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works well and quickly. Just make sure to follow the dosage instructions on the bottle. Easy to follow and pour. Slight chemical smell, but not overwhelming. After using this, I will be able to keep up maintaining the algae much better.

Questions

1 - 10 of 30 Questions

Can this product be used for a fountain that birds use for a bathtub and drinking fountain?

  1. Yes, as long as the product is dosed accordingly to the label and volume of water.

Can you use it in swimming pools

  1. This is not recommended for swimming pools, only ornamental ponds.

algae removal from pond

  1. Meekoda, Thank you for your question. The API Algaefix is not safe for animals drinking from your pond. We recommend the CrystalClear® AlgaeOff. https://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=5163+5255+16592&pcatid=16592

Safe for bees

  1. Mojos Thank you for your question. The Algaefix is not harmful to bees, as long as you are following the correct dosage.

Will AlgaeFix kill beneficial bacteria that exists in the pond? If so, how many days do you wait to add bacteria?

  1. Thank you for your question. Algaefix will not significantly impact your beneficial bacteria when used as directed.

Will this prevent mold from developing in my water barrels?

  1. Thank you for your question. We cannot guarantee that this would prevent mold from developing in your water barrels.

When I pump/clean the filter the pond water is used to water plants/trees in the garden. If I use Algae Fix will it harm plants?

  1. Thank you for your question. This product is safe for use with pond plants and should not hurt garden plants either when used as directed.

Is anything else I should use for GREEN WATER.?

  1. Thank you for your question. We do suggest using a Submersible UV Clarifier to help eliminate the algae.

Will this kill duckweed?

  1. Irma, Thank you for your question. Controlling duckweed includes the physical removal of duckweed and watermeal plants. Wait for a windy day when the breeze can assist in controlling duckweed. When plants are pushed to the sides and edges of the pond, manually remove them with a long handled swimming pool net or other appropriate device that can reach the duckweed and scoop them out of the water. Manual removal alone is not enough to get rid of duckweed, but can help with reducing the amount. This practice must be repeated. Get rid of duckweed before it takes over the pond by increasing aeration at the bottom, manually removing plants from the surface and reducing nutrients that create bottom sediment.

If there are fresh water turtles in my pond, will it be fine to use Algae Fix?

  1. My pond only has tadpoles, not fish, heron took care of them last year. Tadpoles don't seem to mind it.
