The PetSafe Outdoor Bark Control should be placed facing the dog and within range of the dog. The unit is designed with provisions for hanging or mounting and should be positioned at a height of no more than 5 feet. The Outdoor Bark Control can also stand alone. It can be placed in a tree, hanging from a pole, on a fence post, etc. For best results, the area between the Outdoor Bark Control and the dog should be free of any large obstacles. Place the PetSafe Outdoor Bark Control within range of the dog with the unit switched to Low, Medium or High Sensitivity. Most dogs will understand very quickly that the Outdoor Bark Control is disrupting their urge to bark and will relax and stop barking. You should notice a reduction in the dog's barking within the first two weeks that the Outdoor Bark Control is in use. Please note this product may not work on deaf or hearing impaired dogs. Has 3 levels of sensitivity: Level 1 - up to 15 feet Level 2 - up to 30 feet Level 3 - up to 50 feet.

Questions
My neighbor's small dog has a loud but high pitch yelp. Will this device activate when it receives a pitch much higher than an average dog bark?
- Yes it should work. I got my info from a dog trainer.

Can more than 1 unit ne used at the same time? I have a large yard with neighbors on both sides.
- Thank you for asking about this, Susan! While multiple units should not be used in situations where their areas of effect would overlap, it would be possible to use multiple units to cover a large enough area where the units would not overlap. With that being said, it is crucial to remember that the most critical part of any training tool to deter barking is the positive reinforcement provided while working with your dog- high value treats and praise when they cease barking after hearing the tone, etc. Since this is not possible with dogs that are not yours, this does create more variability in effectiveness.

What age is this unit safe for
- Thank you for the great question! We do not have a age restriction for the Ultrasonic Outdoor bark control, however it is recommended that the dog is over the age of 3 weeks. (This is when most dogs hearing is developed.)

Our dog barks for 8 hours straight whilr we are away from the home, will this placed indoors stop his barking?
- Thank you for your question! The Ultrasonic Outdoor Bark Control is designed for outdoor use only and should never be used indoors. The ultrasonic is too loud for a contained, indoor area.

If its pointed towards a neighbors house to stop their barking would my dogs still hear it if they are behind the bird house? Wondering how the range works
- I think if your dogs hear and respond to it, it won't matter what direction it is facing. Unfortunately, my dogs totally ignored it (schnauzer and yorkie).

Will this bother my cats if they are outside and not in the direction of the barking?
- No it will not bother your cats but it won't bother the dogs either; it didn't work at all for me. I put it outside to deter my neighbors' dog's barking and the dog was not phased at all! I wouldn't recommend this product at all.

If we hang the unit outside will it affect our indoor cats?
