I bought this 2 weeks ago. The food dispenses exactly at the times I set but the portions are way off. My Cat gets about 2/3 of a cup of food morning and evening. The setting for that amount delivered 3 times that amount of food. so I started lowering the number. Finally I am down to setting #2 which should dispense only an 1/8 of a cup but we are receiving about 2/3 of a cup. I plan to return the unit and will get another one hoping it works acurately.

Just bought this and was impressed at how easy it was to set up. We have a Red Standard Poodle puppy and are feeding him every four hours so this is perfect. I love that I can record a message to him as well. He knows exactly when it’s going to release the food so it keeps him on his schedule perfectly.

This feeder has made a major improvement in our ability to control our cat's weight. When we adopted our 10 year old cat from a shelter, he was seriously overweight. He's extremely food motivated and tends to 'scarf and barf'. We needed a way to feed him several small portions over the course of the day without needing to be home every few hours. And that's where this feeder has made a huge difference. We schedule the feeder for six, one-portion feeds a day spread out over the course of the entire day. He never eats too much, and the portions are small enough that he doesn't puke it back up. We weigh the feeder at the same time every morning and from that we are able to figure out how many Calories he's had over the previous 24 hours (yes, we have a spreadsheet for him). By carefully controlling his caloric intake, we've helped him lose over 1 kg over the last four months (he has at least another kilogram to go). Of note: the portion size that is dispensed does change depending on how much food is in the hopper (the more food in the hopper, the more food that is dispensed), which is why I weigh the feeder each day. So if you're looking to control your food obsessed cat's weight, this feeder will definitely help. My one request is that I'd like for Petsafe to make the power cord available for purchase separately. I can imagine this one getting damaged at some point.

It's pretty easy to set up- you choose what time it feeds your cats and how many cats to feed. At 6:00am, feed two cats, at 5:00, feed two cats. It's reliable and makes day to day feeding easy. It's also a life saver if you're going to be out overnight. Keeps the cats on a feeding schedule.

Love that it does not need to be online! With the settings and power source, it does what we need! My only concern is if there is a power outage while we are gone... We will have to wait and see!
