Very inconsistent, and gets worse over time

Linapina

I got one of these a while back. It was a lot better at seeing me across the room than my tiny black cat right in front of it, but it still worked at times - and it definitely deters my cat when she does get sprayed. Good enough that I bought another, and then another. But none of these two other units ever worked very well. One of them does a very slow spray, the other hardly worked at all. And after a few months of having all of them, the first one works on extremely rare occasion, the other two hardly ever at all, though one of them sometimes gets stuck in consistent sprayer mode where it just tries to empty the canister as quickly as possible. I'd really want these to work, as they seem to be the only things that deter my cats from the counter, but they just don't.

Does not live up to expectations

I bought this because the other one I bought years ago worked GREAT. Broke my cat from getting counters and tables. Had to get this new one, and this one is not as expected or advertised. It seems to have no problem spraying me when I get near it, but I have on the middle of my dining table to cover all areas to get up. It does not seem to detect the kitten for some reason. I set a grocery bag about 6 inches away, and it did not work. The kitten has no problem walking in front of this product. I have double checked to make sure the batteries are fully charged and nothing. I have also made sure that the product is turned on, nothing.

Only detects humans

Just bought the cat SSSCat . I was super excited to get it.. unfortunately it only detects humans and not cats. Has gone off maybe once or twice with the cat but every time with a person. Detect my husband and I from 5 feet away. Can’t pick up the chaos from a foot away.. Very disappointed.

Too expensive for the minimal output

Years ago, I purchased a product under the same name (different looking can, etc...same name) and I used it to keep my cat off of the kitchen counter. At that time, the spray came out with force, had a bit of cloudiness to it so it was visible, and had a very startling sound. It was perfect! This version detects motion and triggers a spray just fine, but the spray is very weak and the sound it makes isn't in anyway alarming or startling. In fact, our cat thinks it's hilarious to trigger it for fun. She rolls around in front of it for a good time. More like a cat attractant.

No, I do not recommend this product.

At least my cat enjoyed peeing on it

Save your money. I bought this and set it up - and even though I read all of the reviews, I thought it was a bunch of people who just didn't know what they were doing. I'm pretty techie and was able to set it up easily. I was sprayed several times, as was my family members and dog. My cat was able to walk right up to it in the middle of the night and pee/spray/mark without it triggering the device. I got blasted when I went to check it to see if it was working. I regret purchasing it.

Horrible new design

First the power button is not intuitive nor easy. You have to go find the directions every time to figure out how to turn on or off. Long press, short press, blinks, off then press again. Seriously the most ridiculous button when they had a great switch on the older design. Why not keep the switch with three settings, on short range, on long range and off. I enter the kitchen frequently and need to be able to simply turn unit off when I walk in and back on before I walk away. The new button with its crazy directions is not a simple on off design and who wants to keep the directions out on the counter top all the time. Also even when I follow the directions with all the pressing and red light blinking, green light blinking, light off then press again???? I still can’t tell if I actually got it turned on because no way to tell for sure. The blinks never match my directions. Next problem, the noisy squeak of the mechanism only warns my cat to move. There is no sudden startle effect that the older units got with a sudden hiss which cats hate. The older units worked perfectly using a sudden startling hiss. My cats aren’t afraid of mechanical noise so this unit is not effective for training all the new foster cats in the house. Also it only sprays about one in ten times. I’ve tried all kinds of movement only to have it sit there. I’ve watched on my cameras as the new cats just wander all over the counter tops and in the sink with no response. Then I go in there to make sure it’s on. I can pick it up move it around wave etc etc and finally it will go off to show me that it is indeed on. Also now that I can’t move the spray direction it is more likely to put a cats eye out. In the past I turned the sprayer away from the sensor so if a cat got too close it would not spray into their eyes. I caught a foster cat sitting within 5 inches of this item just hanging out. I quickly put my hand between her face and the sprayer to move it away from her. I checked camera footage to see her and another cat moving all over the island with the sprayer not responding and of course it didn’t respond when I grabbed it. Later that day it sprayed me burning the crap out of my hand so what do you think that would have done to my cat sitting so closely to it. It needs to have the capability to point the sprayer in a different direction than the motion detector. It’s a given the cat will be in front of the motion detector so why risk their eye sight by having the spray aimed towards them. So this new design is ineffective for training cats that don’t mind mechanical noises, dangerous to cats eyes due to inability to point sprayer in different direction, difficult to turn on and off quickly, not intuitive, inconsistent when motion is present. I noticed another review answer telling the person that their cat was not in the three foot range showing they didn’t read his review where he said he would get sprays from across the room. I can get sprays from a distance too meanwhile it ignores all the cat action on my counter tops.

Short range and narrow field of view

This is the second similar device I've purchased for my cats, and unfortunately, this one was very disappointing. I bought it specifically to protect our Christmas tree, but its short range and narrow field of view allowed my cat to avoid triggering it while still playing with the tree. There is supposed to be a long-range mode, but I can't seem to get it to work beyond half a foot.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Please go back to old version…

fostercatmama818

This new version is horrible. It only “worked” for about a week - and by work I mean it detected humans and not cats. I tried every angle, height, etc you could think of. I never had this problem with the old version. After a week when I tried to restart it, it did this weird continuous push of air and wasted the air canister. Then it never worked again no matter what I did. I never leave bad reviews but I am so annoyed and upset by this because now I can’t have my Christmas tree up without cats climbing it. Why ruin a perfectly good product? Probably so they could make one that only fits their own brand’s air canisters.
