With this training mat you can quickly and safely teach your cat or dog off limits areas in your home. Place the mat on your kitchen counter, on the sofa, or in front of the Christmas tree to keep curious pets away. The mat uses a battery-operated controller featuring an LCD display. The LCD display shows the battery level, correction level and a counter so you can see how many times your pet steps on the mat. It's easy to adjust the correction level of the training mat depending on your pet's needs. The 7 correction modes allow you to set the correction to tone only, 3 levels of static only or 3 levels of static plus tone. The mat has a safety timeout feature, so if your pet keeps their paws on the mat for more than 8 seconds, the mat will stop correcting your pet before repeating the cycle. The ScatMat training mat is available in 5 different sizes so you can choose the best size for the area in your home you want to protect.

These mats have been very helpful in keeping our 3 cats away from areas where we don't want them.

No more cat on the kitchen counters!
I love it. It took my cat 49 times to figure out that first night he didn't want on the counter. The next night 11. He hasn't been on the counter since, yay! The next counter I set up he only tried getting on it once. I highly recommend getting these to keep cats off of any counters or tables. They are so easy to set up and use.

My Two Cats Learned Fast
Works well to keep both of my cats off of my kitchen island. They jumped up there once while the mat was turned on and immediately jumped off. They were not injured. As long as the mat is in place, they never jump on the kitchen island. I don't even need to turn it on at this point. I'll be ordering another for a different part of the kitchen.

Works great!
Cat started getting on the counter again. I made duck tape traps again, but this time he folded them on itself. Didn't want to have to keep making them, so I decided to give this a try. My friend said it worked great for her sister.
It went on like 4 times the 1st night. Twice the second. Now, nothing. I like that it tells you how many times it went off. Nice design

The strips does not work on doors.
The items worked as advertised but once your pet figures out how to move the strip by going after the interface, you cannot reuse it for its intended purpose (in this case from scratching the door). Perhaps there should be a more scrutinized screening before placing an order.

Cat could care less.
We purchased 2 narrow strips and one large mat to deter cat from counter and from trying to go thru dog door. Large mat works well, but takes up alot of space on counter. Narrow was useless on counters as cat jumped over no matter where we put it. The narrow at the entrance/exit of the dog door didn't work because although he had to work slowly to push the magnets, he could stretch far enough not to stand on the strip. Dog stepped on the strip and now won't use the dog door. The larger mat is just getting moved around to different landing points, but the cat just relocates. He has been shocked at every shock level and just shakes his foot and jumps down. There is a delay between the sound and the shock. Cat doesn't care, but dog understands it.

Can the mat be mounted vertically (with adhesive strips)? I need to deter my dogs from scratching on my door, but I need them to be able to pass through the doorway when I let them in.

We do not recommend mounting them vertically, as this can make it more difficult for your pet to make proper contact with the mat to feel any correction. In this instance, we would recommend removing the ScatMat from in front of the door when you want your pets to access the area, and then replacing the mat when you want to keep them away from the door. Does this hurt children?
- Thank you for asking about this! It is crucial to note that this mat is not intended for children to touch. With that being said, the sensation provided by the mat is a harmless static sensation, but it could be quite startling for a child that did expect it. We would recommend placing this mat in a location where children will not be touching it.

can the 3 inch strip be put between top and bottom cushions of couch so puppy wont scratch between them

My 8 month puppy on top couch to ge doggie couch cover off and scratches between the top and bottom cushion. Would this product work and how to attach to couch
