Bought this less than a week ago. My dog goes right over the fence and keeps going. The collar and tester piece does seem to work the way it says it should in the instructions, not worth the money.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Easy to Use!

The in-ground fence was extremely easy to install and had step-by-step directions on how to do so. I had thought it would be difficult to install, as I am not an overly technical person, but was surprised to learn that even the least technical-savvy person could install. I love that my dog no longer needs to wear a leash outside and he's able to roam freely. I feel this provides him with a sense of independence, although he still prefers to be by my side. On my end though, it provides me a sense of relief that even if I look away momentarily, he won't be able to roam outside of the flags. As far as your dog goes, I would recommend walking him or her around the area to ensure they are aware of where is permitted and not permitted to go. Once your dog learns this, they will be on their way to what they feel is freedom.

We have had our fence in for over 10 years and had no problem doing it ourself. Recently, the transmitter was not working correctly so we purchased the same brand since it had been so reliable.

Yes, I recommend this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Since I am in an HOA, I cannot have a front yard fence of any kind. We like to be outside with our son and our dog always stared at us from inside. This has been a great addition to allow her to safely be apart of the family when we are out.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am extremely pleased with the results and ease of this In-Ground Fence. The installation was very easy to follow with the given instructions, and instantly gave my front yard an invisible barrier that my sneaky Husky won’t pass. I am confident I can allow her to roam the yard freely without passing our front yard. I would highly recommend

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I will start off by saying I live on 3 acres of land but I didnt want my Doberman to roam all the 3 acres so we installed the fence where he could only go about an acre. It was easy to install with some help from my husband. I like that it came with with the collar and it works well. It didnt take long for my Dobie to figure out he couldnt go past the line.

Questions

I only need to prevent my two dogs from entering a single side of a square yard where the fence has been torn down. Will the system work essentially in a straight line, or does it need to "loop?" If needs to loop, can return loop be next to outgoing?

  1. This is a great question! This fence will always need to make a full loop, and this loop cannot be right next to itself. Though a form of double loop layout can be used to cover a straight line, it is crucial to note that the parallel wires forming the long, narrow oval of the double loop will need to be a minimum of 5 feet apart. Examples of double loop layouts can be seen in the manual. If you have any further questions about setting up a layout for your location, please get in touch with us! Our number is 1-800-732-2677, and our hours are Monday through Friday 8 A.M.- 7 P.M. EST.

Does this kit work if I connect my old wire from invisible fence company to this transmitter and buy the entire kit ?

  1. Thank you for the great question! It is possible to remote your current base transmitter and switch it out for the PetSafe In-Ground Fencing system instead. Please note, our systems uses 20 to 14 gauge copper wire (with a PVC coating). Prior to switching out the system, it is recommended to ensure the wire meets these specifications.

Can I purchase an extra RF-275 collar?

  1. Yes - This is especially helpful if you have multiple dogs.

  1. Thank you for this question! Regrettably, the number you've provided doesn't identify your receiver collar. For further help, please contact us at PetSafe directly at 1-800-732-2677, and we'll be happy to help!

What is the type of battery the collar uses? Our collar went out. SKU 1556460

  1. Thank you for your great question. Regrettably, the number you've provided doesn't identify your receiver collar. For further help, please contact us at PetSafe directly at 1-800-732-2677, and we'll be happy to help!

Can I cut the wire and add on to it for an addition ?

  1. Thank you for this question! This is certainly possible; an example showing what this would look like can be seen in the "Back & Front Yard" example on this page. Further examples can be seen in the manual. If you have any further questions, please contact us! Our number is 1-800-732-2677, and our hours are Monday through Friday 8 A.M.- 8 P.M. EST and Saturdays 9 A.M.- 5 P.M. EST.

Where can I get more wire?

  1. Thank you for this question! Additional wire is available in 500ft spools as SKU# RFA-1.

Am I able to cancel the signal in a particular area, as in a gate or walkway that my dog is allowed to go through?

  1. Thank you for this question, Bekah! Though this may be possible, it would require a more complicated form of a double loop layout. It is not possible to place any item in an area or splice in twisted wire in an area to create a gate; we do apologize for any difficulty this may cause. So that we can discuss layout options that may work for you, please reach out to us. Our number is 1-800-732-2677, and our current hours are Monday through Friday 8 A.M.- 6 P.M. EST and Saturdays 9 A.M.- 5 P.M. EST.

Our yard is fenced on 3 sides (sides & back). With the house serving as the 4th barrier, we need to connect from the fence to the house on each side. Do we need 2 systems or will 1 do the job? Can the wire be cut in 2 with 1 transmitter?

  1. Thank you for your question! One system would be suitable for use with this type of installation, but you would likely need to run a double loop layout. Please reach out to our Customer Care Center at 1-800-732-2677 and we will be happy to discuss this more in depth with you.

Re ModPIG0014582 or Mod PIG0013661. Does the underground wire need to be connected to the Transmitter for system to function. My closest indoor outlet is probably 50 of more feet from area I want to secure.

  1. Yes it does need to connect to the transmitter!
