Love them, but they do rust eventually

bunnyguardian

We have several of these for our rescue rabbits, since they're also a favorite at the shelter where I volunteer. They're quick to clean and the large size is thankfully too heavy for the rabbits to toss, but I've noticed that all of the stainless bowls have developed rust streaks over time. Since we bought them several years ago, I'm going to get new ones and chalk it up to wear and tear, but it's a bummer that we can't buy replacement trays and have to throw away the entire product.

Water doesn’t flow properly. Sometimes waterer has to be shaken/bumped for water to flow, other times it will just randomly rush out. I went on a couple short vacations and came home to a full reservoir and no water in the bowl each time. I thought this was a defect so I purchased another but the new one is doing the same thing.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Nice for Outside

I use this for outside when it is hot. It gives a nice spot for my cat to be able to get something to drink when he doesn’t want to come inside. It fits nicely on my porch.

Valve failed

I've owned this station for three years. After the first year the valve that meters to flow stopped on occasion. The dispenser needed to be "shaken" in order to have water dispensed into the bowl. I've kept it because it's large and expensive. After the warranty period, don't assume water will be dispensed for your pet. You could end up with a very thirsty animal.

Ours has been with us for many years but the rubber check valve is worn out. It’s a little rubber gasket. Does anyone know where we can get a replacement little rubber gasket for this?

Love this water bowl. Easy to fill without spilling everywhere! Dirty water doesn’t go back into the jug. Stainless steel is easy to keep clean.

I bought this about a month ago and it seems to leak. I am constantly cleaning up water and it is not user or pet friendly! Being used for bichon and maltese. Would not recommend.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Love them BUT

I absolutely love this waterer BUT my Doxies tend to get it off the base and chew the spring and necessary parts of the lid. I wish they sold replacement lids!!! I may look at others that have replacement lids only for this fact.

Questions

1 - 8 of 8 Questions
Sort by: Newest Answers

Does the reservoir snap unto or twist unto the base?

  1. Great question, Cathy! The reservoir has a slight twist to lock into the base.

Won't keep bowl full. When water is empty in bowl water will not flow unless you take the jug off and then put it back on. Fills bowl then after water is consumed have to repeat above. Why? Is it designed this way or a defect?

  1. Possibly a defect. The lid has a spring-loaded plug (looks like a plus symbol on the outside end) next to the other manual plug. When you put the jug into the dish, it should push on the spring-loaded plug and open it for water flow. We have two and never had a problem (we don’t use a filter).

Do you have to get the filter for it or can you use it without a filter?

  1. There is no filter on this, just a reservoir you fill with water and its screw on lid, and the drinking saucer and base. It's great for when we go on weekend trips, but you do want to wash the drinking saucer every few days as it gets dirty like any other drinking bowl.

How deep is the dish part on the medium and large bowls? I have a small one that I used to use for my cat and I am trying to re-purpose it for my new puppy, but the dish is too shallow - she makes a huge mess when she drinks.

  1. About 2 1/2 inches deep on the 3-gallon one.

is the opening where the water goes in large enough for a normal size hand to get in to water insides?

  1. Yes it is! The hole it pretty wide.

How much water does the LARGE hold?

  1. I was excited about the fact that you could fill it from the top instead of having to turn it upside down and get water everywhere but I am not figuring out a way to properly clean it and it’s also leaking so I would not recommend it

How much water does the small and medium size hold ?

  1. click on the size of the container and you will get your answer :)

Does the top come off for quick filling?

  1. Thank you for your question! Due to the fact that the Waterer uses gravity and the water/air pressure inside of the reservoir to regulate the amount of water it dispenses into the bowl below, it cannot be filled from the top as all the water would flow out of it and overflow the bowl. The reservoir can be filled by removing it from the bowl, unscrewing the reservoir cap from the bottom of it, and filling it up from there.
