This is not just a slap it on product! This is an actual training tool. First up, get your pup used to a muzzle or having his snout and mouth closed without panic. Next, get the fit right. Form fitting closeness without the lead squeezing the muzzle closed or cutting off circulation. The lead is soft and well made to be comfortable when worn right. There are clear concise instructions with photographs. Seriously the fit is important! Right behind the ear and right over the muzzle. The first few times my pup slipped out of the muzzle lead. I finally got the lead on just right and he couldnt get slipped out. So we're working on the muzzle without panic. No photos of it on him since hes panicking but I'll update as he gets better. So far he's walking a bit more calm.

Good option for dogs that pull while on leash

This is a really good option for dogs that pull while on walks. It securely fastens around the neck as well as the snout to help redirect the pull and help them focus. It has a clasp around the snout area to be able to adjust it specifically to your pup. It does the a while for them to get used to if your dog doesn’t like things around their face/ head

Gentle lead better leash

I have a 80 lb German Shepard. Usually we walk him with a choker collar but he still pulls. I tried this gentle lead collar. It stops the choking and is better to lead him with. He seems to be ok with it on his face and hasn’t tried to take it off.

Not the right collar for my pup

The PetSafe Gentle Leader No-Pull head collar feels like a good quality product. It fit my dog fine. He did not like it. When I would try to walk him he would just put his head down and not walk. He is not used to this style collar. We tried a few times and he would not walk. Nice quality but not for my pup.

We're sorry to hear your pup has not yet responded well to this head collar! It is important to mention that while some pups take to this head collar fairly quickly, others may need more gradual introduction. We would recommend trying to work with your dog first to just put his muzzle willingly into the head collar, receiving high value treats, then removing it without fastening it. Once he is very comfortable doing that you can move next to fastening it and having it wear it for a minute or so then removing it, and progressing to wearing it for a few minutes at a time if he becomes comfortable wearing it for a for a minute, etc. Moving step by step like this, he may become comfortable enough wearing it to use it on walks. If he is still unsure even moving slowly through the acclimation steps, please contact us so we can see what other solution may be a better fit for him. This collar has been an absolute game changer for our 6-year-old, 65 lb Goldendoodle. We had tried everything—harnesses, collars, even extensive professional training—and nothing worked. The very first time we put this on, the pulling stopped instantly. Now he walks calmly right by our side, and it has completely transformed our walks.
We started with the medium size (though a large would have fit as well) and allowed him a short adjustment period with brief walks. He acclimated quickly, and the difference has been incredible. I can’t recommend this product highly enough—it has truly made walking our dog enjoyable again!”

Product fits well and easy to use. We got the size that is supposed to fit a great dane but it fits our labrador just fine. There is just a little extra material left over when fitting it to smaller pets. Overall good product.

The name Gentle Leader is appropriately named, both for the dog and handler. It is not difficult getting your dog comfortable wearing it and it is best to introduce it before taking your first walk. Just a few treats and the walk itself are rewards. I am in my late sixties and can walk 3 large dogs weighing a total of 300 lbs with no problem. No tugging or causing concern for my safety.
