With slider installed on door track, unable to lock sliding door. Have to place PVC pipe in the track to prevent it being opened. Company's solution for a lock is subpar. Wish dog door fit in the track of the screen, then I could still close and lock it.

This is one of the best purchases I have made. It is installed in the sliding glass doors in the sunroom. I had it installed for me and the installer was impressed with the pet door. There is a slight gap between the sliding door and the pet door, but that is because the sliding door is not straight. I have no complaint about that because it is an improvement over leaving the sliding door open or constantly having to open the sliding door for my dog to go out. Although I have a small dog, I purchased the extra large to accommodate larger visiting dogs. Training dogs to use the pet door takes time, especially if the dog has never used a dog door before. It took about a week before my neighbor's 12 year old dog felt comfortable using the new door. It has worked so well, my neighbor is getting a pet door for the sliding doors at her house.

It did fit lengthwise but could not use the brackets to secure the fit on my frame. The top spring fit piece is what holds this unit place with using backer rod foam I had on hand which I put on one side of unit(wall side) to keep centered on track. My dogs do love it after about three days of learning how to go in and out of the dog door!

We needed a dog door for our Doberman Zahara to be able to go in and out during the day and had no place to put a conventional one. Our only logical exit was the Sliding Glass Door or cutting a hole in the wall out to the back porch and we weren’t doing that. We are so glad we found this removable panel that fits perfectly into the sliding glass door opening. It’s not a perfect seal but has very little open area between the door and the panel. It’s very easy to put in just lift the spring top in top and bottom grooves and slide as far to the door frame as possible and shut the door up next to the panel. Zahara loves it!!!

This is a great product that does exactly what it says, but its not without fault and its not without understanding the size of this door insert. This is large and will take up about half the opening size of the sliding door, enough that it will fit a large dog as stated, but hard for a human to get by the open side. I was able to remove the outside handle on my sliding door as well as the mechanism that controls how far my door can open in order to get my door to open another 4 inches or so. openings in houses are never totally square so I did add a piece of foam weather strip on each side of my insert in order to get a tight fit, which works perfect. Also, the top of the insert panel is spring loaded to adjust the height, and there are screws to be able to lock it at the exact height needed, but I left them out to be able to easily remove the insert if needed. One thing I did not like was the new mechanism to lock the sliding glass door since your latch will no longer work as this requires the user to drill into the sliding glass door frame to insert a locking pin. we have opted to go with a 2x4 for now that's been cut to keep the door closed. In all this is a great product and does what I ordered it to do. I'm not using it 100% as intended from the manufacturer but I am more than happy with the purchase. I have not noticed any real temperature change in the sun room having this installed. we were using a screen door dog insert before this and will probably remove the glass panel once again in the spring and summer.
