Inaccurate locations

Laura StAmant

I wanted to love this as it would have been perfect for our family and yard but sadly 25% of the time it was giving warning signals and static shocks while our dog was safely (and far inside) the boundaries. We followed all directions for set up and most of the time it did hold true to the circular boundary but there were just too many times our dog was laying on the floor in the living room and the beeps started and it would shock him. It was sad actually. After the 5th time that happened, we returned it. We only had it for a week.

Can’t hear the beep

Tom Q

The volume on the tone is way too low and it doesn’t have an adjustment. I had to have the thing next to my ear in order to put the flags out. The flag boundary is not reliable because the boundary does move a bit from time to time. I need to hear the tone in order to train my dog that he should back away when he hears the tone. Add a tone level adjustment and it will be a great product.

Wireless unit - collars broken

Tgreen085

I own the wireless unit had it about 18 months. And plastic on collar broke making it useless. Was told collar only has 1 year warranty and cost to replace is like 150. Looking through other reviews seems obvious these collars break in the same spot a lot. And it’s been and issue spanning multiple years.

The best thing for my dogs

Springer mama

I bought the system in April 2023, I’m so glad I did. I have two English Springer Spaniels, full of energy, I live on a busy country road and they kept going in the road, I was so afraid they we’re going to get hit by a car. I bought this system and an extra base for more space, set it up, had them trained in a few hours. Now they never go close to the road. Best thing I ever did for my dogs. Just wish they had the GPS system when I purchased mine.

WORKS GREAT!

After a year of use our Beagle Lab is still in its zone. I have found the farther out you go the less consistant it is, but it still works well. We keep ours out about 60 feet and its very consistant never once after a year has it been inconsistant. I like the battery option here becuase the recharagable ones tend to fizzle out over time. Our batttery lasts like 3-4 months! The batterys are also very affordable. Petsafe please keep the replacable battery option! Our dog was a beagle lab at 4 years old when we trained her on this, so you can train older dogs also! Overall if you stick to the training directions this wirless fence will serve you well!

Shocks for no reason .

I’ve done everything the manual has told me to do & I can’t have my dog getting shocked for no reason . We were sitting within the boundary and the collar decided to go off and shocked my dog for a long period of time . I’m so highly upset because I’ve paid so much for this product and it doesn’t even work correctly ! I would not recommend this productive

Perfect for us. We have underground utilities and the in ground fence wouldn’t work. Would give it 5 but do to circle circumference dog has smaller area. Still works to keep her in and would recommend.

Need more range

Sniffbiscuit

It works well enough but I would like more range. I did buy a second transmitter and put it in an out building which helps but the dogs still dont have access to enough of the available yard.

Can collars be activated manually from inside house base unit if you observe a potential hazard you do not want your pet to go near?

  1. Thank you for asking. There is no way to manually activate the collars.

Hi! My dogs are used to an invisible fence as they had one at our old house. My questions are,1.)Is the perimeter adjustable? 2.)Will my dog's old collar work or be compatible?3.) Will it be safe for my dogs when they are home alone with a dog door

  1. Thank you for reaching out to us. We're happy to help answer any questions you may have about our Wireless Fence options. It is important to mention that our Wireless Fences work differently than our In-Ground Fence systems. Due to the way the signal is transmitted, it is possible for metal interferance from common household items, such as a refrigerator or dishwasher, to interrupt the signal and cause an accidental correction. For this reason, we always recommend that the collar be removed while your companion is indoors. Therefore, we wouldn't recommend leaving these collars on when you are not home and your dogs are indoors. The boundary range of our wireless systems is adjustable. However, we are unsure if your dog's old collar would be compatible. For us to determine this, we would need to collect the model number. If you'd like additional help, please reach out to our Customer Care Center. We can be reached at 1-800-732-2677 between the hours of 8 AM - 7 PM ET Monday to Friday.

Hi, does this work for cats?

  1. Great question. While the system can work great for cats, we do not have a wireless collar that is cat specific. However our smallest collar is rated for 5lbls and up with a 6 inch neck.

My yard is narrow. Can this only be a circular shape? I’m afraid that will go into my neighbors yard. I would need it to be an oval shape.  Also, can you purchase 2 collars to work off the same receiver?

  1. Thank you for asking this question, MaryAnn. You may find it helpful to know that you can purchase and use additional wireless receiver collars with this system, making it a great option for multi-dog households. The shape of the wireless signal cannot be changed.

Can you get a trainer to train using the fence? bad knees very rough

  1. Thank you for your question, Rex! Our products are considered Do-It-Yourself devices. If you wish to hire a trainer to help acclimate your dog to the containment system, then this would be at your own expense.

Will it work on a Yorkie that is 3.5 pounds but has a 6.5 in. neck?

  1. The collar box is the size of 3 nine volt batteries. My dog is double the size of your dog. I have the boundary set for the front yard and the back yard.  My dog will dig under our fence in the summer. You have a pretty small dog for the collar size.

I need a fence for about two acres

  1. Thank you for your interest in our Stay & Play Wireless Fence. This fence kit can cover up to 3/4 acre with the included equipment. For more coverage, you can add an additional one or two transmitters for a total of three. The transmitter signals only need to overlap 30ft for your pet to walk from one boundary to the other. For example, if you use two transmitters and place them on opposite ends of the house then you will have a figure “8” shaped boundary.   Using this method, if you were to combine three of our 3/4 acre coverage transmitters then the maximum coverage would be roughly 2 acres. To use multiple transmitters sometimes you may need to house them in different buildings on the property. Please keep in mind that all of our wireless transmitters are neither waterproof nor weatherproof and must be housed indoors in a temperature controlled climate.

The ad says 1 to 2 hr set up time. That seems a lot to set up a transmitter. I now wonder if I'm misunderstanding this system. What is entailed in the set up process?

  1. Thank you for your great question. When setting up the boundary, the base transmitter will be at the center of a circular containment area. Setting up the transmitter will involve finding an appropriate place inside your home to house the transmitter and adjusting the boundary to get the most out of your yard. This may take shorter or longer depending on the shape of your property and your intuitiveness to find the right location and boundary with the fence. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us at 1-800-732-2677

I just had to replace my battery for the first time on my collar receiver. Now it won’t work. The light does flash on the receiver to show the level it is set to but does not beep or deliver static correction when crossing boundary. Do I have to resync it

  1. I’ve not had a problem but maybe turn everything off and then back on?

Does the wire go underground

  1. No, it is a base unit that plugs into the wall and the range is based around that. There are no wires to bury.
