I have a cat and this dangling key fob isn’t cutting it. Can you make at least an attachment so the key does not hang. You have other designs that work so well. Maybe updating this in 2024 will sell you more products. My cat is out in the woods and I would not like to lose the key fob because it gets stuck out in the brushes somewhere.

I love this door so much and it works just as expected! My only complaint is the key. The key is so big, why can’t you invent a smaller key!! Please do something about this. I notice you don’t respond when this issue is addressed

I just purchased the dog and it seems good but I have a small dog and the key really bugs him. I don’t think it need to be so big. Look at the Apple tags and steal the design.

The battery constantly falls out of the smartkey, making it useless. There have been complaints and bad reviews for YEARS...yet the company ignores all the complaints with no redesign of product. and replying to reviews that it is not a common issue.

How do you get the battery to stay in the key? I followed the directions and it seems tight and in place. Within 24 hours both my dogs lose their battery and get locked in or out. One of my dogs is 11 and isn’t playful so I can’t even blame it on something. This is a huge design flaw for a locking doggy door! I’ve been leaving it unlocked, but when it’s in that mode it doesn’t property close. There’s a gap for mice, bugs and cold air to get in. Help! I can’t take it out! I’d have a giant hole in my wall!

We bought an extra to go with the automatic door. We have 3 dogs and the door with the collar works wonderful. This set up allows our little dog to go from the house to outside without the 2 bigger dogs getting in the house we hen we are not home. We were worried that the big dog would just follow the little dog though. We got the big door. Because the door is hard plastic it swings back and forth a little so it stops the bigger dog with the swing motion and then locks. Highly recommend door system.

We have two young dogs who love to wrestle. We bought a replacement key, had it two weeks, and now can't find it. Each of our three dogs has lost at least one key. The older dog doesn't wrestle with the other dogs or rough house with us. It's a great concept, but a poor design.

Yes, I recommend this product.

petsafe smart key dog door system: What happens if the battery runs out when I'm not home? Is there any warning prior to the battery not working?

    Thank you for your question! If the battery on the SmartKey or SmartDoor is low, you will see a red light flash once every few seconds on the key or door itself. The keys have an estimated battery life of 3-6 months, and the batteries on the door last about 3 months.
