Questions
Is there a solar version for outdoors?
- I've never heard of one. I'm not sure about the water quality and temperature if it was left out directly in the sun. Even inside, fountains can get scummy quickly. It would happen faster, I think, with more algae, if directly in the sun. You could check out the manufacturers web site to see if there are any solar options. Perhaps there are battery powered options. Be aware, that this fountain by it's design - quite tall in the middle -- can break easily. I had that happen twice. One arrived to me broken. A nice fountain, but that can be a design flaw.

I just got this in today and the pump will not work had to use the pump I had for an old one I would like a pump

Does it use a filter? If so, what kind.
- Yes, it uses a charcoal filter and a foam filter. They are expensive and the charcoal filter stains the white dish. No matter how often you clean, the charcoal makes it look dirty. The foam filter gets gross quickly - and I use water filtered through a top of the line British Berkefeld filter. I stopped using the filters.

- Excellent question! Our Drinkwell Pagoda Pet Fountain measures 8 ⅞" width x 10 ½" length x 5 ¾" height. From the bottom of the fountain to top of the drinking basin rim measure 3". I don't think it is... but is it safe to feed pets out of a 5 Gallon paint bucket that has paint and stuff on the lid still and paint on the outside but it possibly looks clean on the outside? I'm low on my cat food and I texted family to ask if they could pick me up a bag. They replied with the reply that they have cat food for their cats in a 5-gallon bucket that I could get some out of it. But the bucket used to have paint in it so I'm not sure I want to feed her any of that food.

my 8 year old cat does not drink much water. I changed her to wet Pro Plan Urinary food as suggested by the vet. She uses the poop box. But I have noticed her appetite is less and she lays around a lot more. I am worried about diabetes even though she does not have the obvious symptoms. Was treated for urinary tract problem but vet did not test her urine just prescribed antibiotic. Any suggestions?
