Is the fountain supposed to be plugged in 24/7?

I put everything together according top the instructions, but no water is coming up through the filter. I did rinse the filter. I assume something isn't set right, but I can't figure it out. Help please!
- The magnetic wheel, take a toothpick and clean it. Black stuff gets stuck and wheel can't turn.

How often should I change the filter and how? i can't seem to open up the part for the filter
- I rinse the filters about once a week and change them every other week. the white plastic filter cover does open, but it's a little tough to do. make sure it and your hand are dry and pry the pieces apart. hope this helps!

Why is there continually black stuff that is left on the tray of where the cats drink the water, even after thorough cleaning every time?
- are you rinsing the filter before installing it? sounds like the filter dust, but if you rinse for 15 or 20 seconds before you put it in it's all good. it's just like a britta filter, you have to do the same thing. Hope this helps

HOW CAN I TELL IF MY PET IS GETTING FRESH WATER BEING THAT IS CIRCULATES THE SAME WATER ADDED AND NOT SALIVA FILLED WATER
- Thank you for your great question. The filtration system in the fountain is designed to remove bad odors and tastes from the water to encourage your pet to drink more often. The filters do not remove solubles or particulates. To remove saliva mixed in with the water, you will need to completely change the water in the fountain.

How do you tell when it is empty? Does the motor keep running if it is empty?
- Thank you for this question! The fountain may become more audible as the water level falls. Running the fountain without water or allowing the water to fall below a sufficient level will cause damage to the fountain pump.

So I'd need to buy carbon & foam filters for butterfly fountain?
- Yes. But 1 carbon filter and 1 foam filter are included in the box. I recommend purchasing extra filters at least 1 week before the original filters it comes with need replaced with new ones. It may sound a bit extensive to need 2 different filters but each filter benefits in a different way. The foam filter catches debris and particles like fur and dust. Then the carbon filter removes impurities to keep the circulating water tasting good and fresh.

Can I get a battery operated fountain at Petco? I have a limited amount of electrical plugs that can reach my cats dinner table.
- It doesn't look like they make a battery operated pump for pet fountains. Have you tried a surge protector or power strip?

Can my cat still get to water if the power goes out?
- The tray at the top holds some water in it should the power go out. If u r in areas where you have that happen a lot, I'd get a different model. Cats are difficult to get to drink as it is but that would concern me.

My cat refuses to drink from his automatic water fountain and is only interested in the toilet
Hi! I bought my cats a drinking fountain. It’s only been a few hours but they seem afraid of it. Any advice or do they just need to decide to give it a try? I left their old water bowl out and they’re still choosing it over the fountain. Thx!
Should I purchase a water fountain for my dog? She does drink on her own several times a day. But that sounds like a good idea. Does it really encourage them to drink more water? Is it easy to clean? I currently like to wash my dogs water bowl daily with warm water and soap. Would this be doable with a water fountain? thanks!
Rosie is a 4 1/2 year old healthy cat who now won’t drink water. 3 weeks ago yearly vet visit she’s great! Now she’s lost ~ 1/2 pound. Acts fine, no evidence of disease or illness except minor dehydration. SubQ fluid, Covenia, DEXA given by vet yesterday as she’s had UTI in past. Have cat water fountain she loves - no interest now. Eats dry urinary + calm Royal Canin and 1 spoon pumpkin per day. Will not eat moist. Yesterday and today she licked liquid of small can of food. WORRIED!

My cat has recently stopped drinking out of her waterbowl (keeps eating). The past couple nights when I opened my waterbottle she will go crazy for my water. She end up drinking multiple lid fulls of water but will wait for the next night without drinking any of her own water. Hi! I just adopted a 5 month old kitten with CH. I've had him for two days, and have not been able to get him to drink water from a bowl. I've tried several types of bowls with no luck. I've been adding extra water to his wet food in the meantime, which he eats just fine, but I don't think that's an ideal solution long-term. He has a vet appointment next week, but any help in the meantime would be appreciated.

My poor Kitty started on a new Heart med called amlodipine 2.5 mg (1/2 tab) I don’t think he’s lathagic but he sure isn’t drinking much water. He was just diagnosed with Moderate cardiac myopathy. My kitten's lower mouth is been really red/swollen on and off for months. I've changed her porcelain bowls to stainless steel bowls. My vet thought it might've been the food but I tried switching her to Nature's Balance but she didn't really like it. Previously she was eating Blue Buffalo wilderness kitten food and current she's eating Purina cat chow. I'm thinking about trying change her food again and getting her a stainless steel or plastic water fountain
