If you have a big dog or multiple pets in your family, the 2 Gallon Pet Fountain is the perfect size! Pets love running water and are drawn to it. Pet fountains entice pets to drink more water which keeps them healthy and hydrated. With this fountain, pets can drink from the free-falling stream or the bowl (which is awesome) because your pet needs 1 ounce of water per 1 pound they weigh every day. This fountain has adjustable flow control which lets you customize the free-falling water stream, so no matter your pet's personality, they'll feel comfortable drinking from their new fountain. We've designed the fountain to be tip and spill resistant, so you won't have to worry about cleaning up puddles. Also, the open bowl means that even if the power goes out, your pet will still have access to water. To keep water fresh, we use dual- filtration technology to remove pet hair, debris, bad tastes and odors. Your pet deserves the best. Trust PetSafe to keep your pet healthy, safe and happy.

 • - 2-Gallon Water Capacity - This BPA-free fountain is the perfect size for cats, dogs and multi-pet households
 • - Encourages Hydration - A free-falling stream of water entices pets to drink more and helps prevent urinary and kidney diseases in pets through increased hydration
 • - Filtered Water - Replaceable carbon filter removes bad tastes and odors while the foam filter catches pet hair and debris
 • - Customizable Water Flow - Adjustable water flow allows you to customize the stream for you and your pet, or turn it off for a quieter operation
 • - Easy to Clean - The pet fountain is top-rack dishwasher safe (excluding the pump) and specifically designed with no hard to reach places
 • - Compatible Filters and Pump - Fountain uses PetSafe Drinkwell Carbon Filter #6 (PAC00-13906), PetSafe Drinkwell Foam Filter #5 (PAC00-13711) and Drinkwell Replacement Pump (PAC00-16977)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was the weirdest item I’ve ever used. I received this free and it didn’t work, but also, was extremely hard to set up and not user friendly. 0/10 recommend.

Great buy but super loud after a few days running

We’ve always used petsafe fountains for our animals! Recently bought this one and after a few days of cleaning it… the water stops flowing on the plastic nub, hits just behind it, and becomes super loud! I clean it again and everything is fine and then a few days later it gets loud again! It’s as if you all should make it a slide where the water hits and flows into the bowl helping cancel the sound! Is there a way to prevent this? I almost regret getting this upgrade and kept the old model. The only thing with that is the old was a PITA to clean out! This is easier.

slimy, noisy, and unreliable

I bought this on Jun 25th, and kept it topped off religiously (since it's incredibly noise when it's at 25% capacity) - and yet, the motor burned out anyway today, Nov 11th. For almost a hundred bucks I wish that the pump could have lasted at least 6 months. The inside gets slimy fast, also, which is not what I expected. I would not buy this again.

No, I do not recommend this product.

We're sorry to hear you've had difficulty with your fountain, Joe! It is important to mention that if your fountain is becoming quickly slimy, the pump likely needs to be fully disassembled and cleaned. We do recommend doing this every 1-2 weeks.

Since your pump is currently not operating we would recommend following the steps in your manual to disassemble the pump into four pieces and scrub all of those pieces thoroughly under warm water with soap. When reassembling your pump, try adding a dab of food safe oil (olive oil, etc.) to the white propeller blades of the final removeable piece, then fully reassemble the pump, fully immerse it in water, and plug it. It should come on right away, even if right now it seems totally silent and "dead". If those does not resolve the issue, please contact our live support team; your fountain has a 1 year warranty and we'll be happy to replace your pump if covered under warranty should troubleshooting fail. Our number is 1-800-732-2677, and our hours are Monday through Friday 8 A.M.- 7 P.M. Noisy and dirty

Amberness

I bought this fountain 2 weeks. Easy to assemble and size are the only benefits. It is extremely loud no matter how high or low the flow is or how full the water is. It's so loud that I find myself unplugging it for peace. Also, I have thoroughly rinsed the filter, however it still continuously puts black debris in the water. It also gets very slimy very fast. I have had numerous water fountains for my pets over the years and this will be the first one that I'm returning. I have 2 other brand fountains in my home that stay cleaner and are much quieter, I was just looking for a larger size so I don't have to fill it every day.

No, I do not recommend this product.

We're sorry to hear this fountain has not been the right fit for your preferences!

It is important to mention that though a bit of residue from filter material is normal and harmless, if you are experiencing excessive residue this typically indicates rinsing a bit longer would resolve this issue. Though you have rinsed your filters, we would recommend rinsing them under cool water until the water runs clear. There will still be residue after this, though it will be slight. This material is the same material as the interior of the filter that is used to remove bad tastes and odors from the water, so it is perfectly safe.

As any fountain with a falling water feature will have the falling water sound, it's likely a fountain without a falling water feature may be a better fit for your situation. If you still have your fountain, we would be happy to speak with you directly about what other options we may have for you. Please reach out to us! Questions

Does the pump shut off if water gets low?

 1. I’ve never let it get below 2-3 inches from the top of the water area, but I don’t think it turns off when it gets low. I didn’t see anything in the manual that it would either. But for my full-grown German Shepherd, it’s an excellent water fountain. The water area holds a lot.

I bought this fountain for our two cats and two new puppies. When I went to clean it out and change the filters, I noticed algae growth in the tubing and plastic parts. What can be done to prevent this?

 1. Thank you for your question! To prevent algae or bacteria growth in your fountain, we recommend making sure your fountain does not sit anywhere that it may receive direct sunlight. In addition, it is best to disassemble and clean your fountain every 2-4 weeks. We recommend a 50/50 water and vinegar solution to help remove any buildup inside the fountain or pump.

Hello, I saw a link to the filters but not to the Foam filter. Is there a link you can provide so we can buy them? Also where would we go to buy replacement parts(ex: the pump or filters, ect)? Is there a link you can provide for that?

 1. Have you looked at the Petco website?

Does it keep the water cold? Can it be used outdoors?

 1. It doesn’t cool the water, and there isn’t anything specified in its paperwork saying it would be safe outdoors.

I’m watching the video to replace the filter and realized that I never received the gray filter housing - it’s the case that protects the filter- I purchased it fairly recently (within 1-year warranty) what should I do?

 1. Thank you for your question! If the filter housing is missing from your fountain, then it would not be able to run at all since water would not be pushed up to the top of the fountain. If you believe this piece has been left out of your fountain, please feel free to reach out to us at 1-800-732-2677 for additional assistance.

Where can I buy the replacement foam filters for this item and what # filter is it?

 1. Thank you for your great question. The part number for the two-pack of foam filters is PAC00-16467

I have cleaned everything and replaced the filter on 8Jul on I’m getting foamy bubbly water. Not sure what to do or cause.

 1. Typically, when we run into foam in the water, it is caused by one of two things. Sometimes it is that soap was used in the cleaning process, but there is some soap residue left over afterwards that will foam up. The other, more common, cause is pet saliva. Saliva builds up with regular use and can cause a foaming reaction like that when the water is circulated. If you suspect the dish soap may be leaving residue, you can alternatively use a 1:1 mixture of water and white vinegar which works very well to clean the fountains. If the foam is not caused by soap residue on the fountain left over from the cleaning process, it is most likely caused by your pet’s saliva. As your pet drinks, saliva is left in the fountain water. When the water is then circulated, this can lead to the foam along the edges of the fountain. This is harmless. If you have any additional questions please feel free to reach out to us at 1-800-732-2677. We are happy to help!

My small dog is going blind and I want a fountain that he can hear. Will this work? Also, he hates to get wet. Is the bowl large enough that he can easily drink without getting wet?

 1. Hello Deb! Thank you for these questions. The PetSafe Drinkwell 2 Gallon Pet Fountain offers the sound of flowing water. The strength of this stream may be adjusted as needed. This fountain measures 5.6” x 15.75” x 14.44” and provides a large drinking area for most pets. If you have any additional questions please feel free to reach out to us at 1-800-732-2677. We are happy to help!

I am thinking about buying the PetSafe Drinkwell 2 Gallon Pet Fountain and in the description it says that it uses both Carbon Filter and Foam Filter. Do I have to buy and replace 2 filters every 2-4 weeks? If so this could end up being very expensive.

 1. Thank you for this question! The carbon filters should be changed every two to four weeks and the foam filter every 4 to 8 weeks. The life of the filters will vary depending on the location of the fountain and the number of pets using it.

So if I keep this outside (we live in NM) will this help prevent my dogs water from getting so dusty. ?

 1. We do not recommend keeping this fountain outdoors; we do apologize for any misunderstanding. If you would be interested in an outdoor fountain, we would recommend considering our Everflow fountain, or our outdoor fountain. These can be seen here- https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/petsafe-drinkwell-everflow-indooroutdoor-water-fountain and here- https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/drinkwell-outdoor-pet-fountain Though dust can still accumulate if the fountain is exposed to it outdoors, it's possible the filter may help reduce this. Large particles, however, would settle to the bottom of the bowl and would need to be removed by cleaning.
