Exactly what I'd hoped for

This is a great pet door. It's substantial, easy to install and remove, and looks as good as a pet door can look. I especially like the spring-loaded top panel, which allows me to secure the door without permanently installing it. Because I live in Minnesota, there will be months where I can't use it, so the easy installation and un-installation is a great feature. Worth every penny.

Easy to install, fit great. Took longer to get out of the box, than to install it.

No locking hardware for your sliding glass door

Kris H

Not as described on the website. I specifically picked this one for the hardware that was supposed to allow me to lock the sliding glass door to the pet patio door. Instructions were placed in the wrong order. It had me lock the height into place with screws before Installing brackets in the sliding glass door frame, making it almost impossible to slide the door back into place over top of the brackets. Top of pet patio door was already bent upon receipt. Does not install onto every sliding glass door well. My sliding glass door does not have a track at the top, so if it wasn't for the bracket weakly holding it into place with one maybe 1/4-1-2 inch screw, the patio door would slide back and forth on the top of the frame. With the bracket in place it does not sit flush with the slider door and the bottom bracket is too wide to be flush with the door because the track limits where it can sit. So the bottom bracket has a gap between itself and the door it screws in to. It also does not sit flush with the door jamb and I can see light through to the outside. The website states that it comes with hardware to lock your sliding glass door to your pet patio door but it does not. It comes only with a lock that can be installed against the stationary part of your slider to keep your sliding glass door from sliding open or closed. Unfortunately that is not the right size either and does not reach from the sliding glass door to the stationary part of my slider. So I got done installing it only to find out that I could not secure my sliding glass door at all. I then had to quickly find something approximately 24 inches in length to temporarily secure the door so that I could go to sleep that night. Not at all what I expected and I do not feel like it will keep out intruders or insects. Still trying to find a fix to make it safe enough to leave it in place.

With slider installed on door track, unable to lock sliding door. Have to place PVC pipe in the track to prevent it being opened. Company's solution for a lock is subpar. Wish dog door fit in the track of the screen, then I could still close and lock it.

Good purchase for dogs access to outside.

This is one of the best purchases I have made. It is installed in the sliding glass doors in the sunroom. I had it installed for me and the installer was impressed with the pet door. There is a slight gap between the sliding door and the pet door, but that is because the sliding door is not straight. I have no complaint about that because it is an improvement over leaving the sliding door open or constantly having to open the sliding door for my dog to go out. Although I have a small dog, I purchased the extra large to accommodate larger visiting dogs. Training dogs to use the pet door takes time, especially if the dog has never used a dog door before. It took about a week before my neighbor's 12 year old dog felt comfortable using the new door. It has worked so well, my neighbor is getting a pet door for the sliding doors at her house.

Easy to set up for your sliding glass patio door

It did fit lengthwise but could not use the brackets to secure the fit on my frame. The top spring fit piece is what holds this unit place with using backer rod foam I had on hand which I put on one side of unit(wall side) to keep centered on track. My dogs do love it after about three days of learning how to go in and out of the dog door!

Good quality door but did not fit-it was about 1/4 inch too tall past the maximum adjustment. Too bad because I love the bronze frame.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

can the door be used with vinyl sliding glass door ?? if not do you make a version that would work ?

  1. I don't know if it will work with a vinyl sliding glass door, but depending on the measurements it should work. We LOVE our door!

I received a rapid answer to my question regarding using the sliding glass door. My question isn't regarding the sliding GLASS door, but the sliding SCREEN door. I know it will work with the glass door, I need clarification on the sliding SCREEN. TY!!!!

  1. Thank you for reaching back out to us. We are sorry to hear that our original response did not provide the information you need. While many customers do have success installing this patio panel into the style of door mentioned, we cannot guarantee it will be compatible with this type of track as this door is designed to be compatible with a single sliding glass door track. If you'd like for your screen door to remain fully operable, we may recommend looking at our Pet Screen Door-- https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/petsafe-pet-screen-door-10553

Once installed, is there anyway to use you existing screen door? The pics I see show the pet screen door put up to the sliding door. I hesitate to disable my existing screen because I love fresh air!

  1. Screen door can be used. You just lose the area that the dog door is installed in. The open area is smaller, but can be used

Does this doggy door work in a wooden patio door.

  1. Thank you for this question. This pet door will install in most standard sliding glass door frames measuring 76 3/4" and 81" tall.

Can this be installed in an outside wall? I don't have a slider but I like the look.

  1. No

I want to purchase your large/tall door for a taller dog 9" x 24", but I have a small dog also. do you have steps that I can install for her for sale?

  1. I do not need steps for my dog as she is very tall and long legged. However, height from the ground up to the bottom of the entry flap is about 10.25 inches.

How do I get the magnets out of this doggie door? I have a 6.8 lb. Maltese puppy and the magnets seem too strong for her to push through

  1. Maybe need a smaller door but you could put fabric around the magnet to weaken it or some of those sticky circles you put on cabinet doors to quiet them.

So it says that the door is 75 and 7/8 but when you put it into cart to buy the size changes to 76 and 13/16. We have a door that is 76 inches in height. So will it fit or not

  1. The main part of the door is 72 inches but there is a 6 inch extension on the top. Inside of the top is some kind of spring that makes the door adjustable. I would guess that there is enough give in the spring to fit easily in a 76 inch opening.

I have installed the lock, but after adding the weather strip included, the lock is too far apart. This is so frustrating since I went thru all the steps and now it does not work.

  1. Thank you for your question. We're sorry you're having this trouble with your Patio Panel. When you can, please reach out to us at 1-800-732-2677, and we'll be happy to help you with installation and help you get your door working properly.

Once the door is installed, how do you get in and out the door?

  1. Your sliding door still opens and closes the same. It's just flush against the panel.
