This reduces traction, and can cause sliding even on high traction surfaces. To address this, we would recommend working with your dog to descend/ascend the steps slowly, walking normally without excess tension. The easiest way to do this is often to have your pet on leash, and praise them first for placing their bottom of the steps and holding this position until they relax.
