Baxter's adaptation

Doaty cat mama

My feline fur baby Baxter had a recent rear leg amputation. To say that he had trouble adapting would be understated as he is an old boy. He could not jump up on anything as he used to and he really wanted to join our other furbabies on my bed. This ramp solved the problem. I needed something that was not too steep, and had a non slip surface and was sturdy. It was easy to assemble and with some treats for encouragement, Baxter learned very quickly that this was safe and he could trust it.

I purchased this because we have a basset hound and I didn’t want him to hurt his back jumping in and out of the bed. It took a few days for him to be comfortable using it, but he loves it and gets easily in and out of the bed now. It wasn’t difficult to put together and it’s very sturdy. I would highly recommend this.

Would be 5 star if the ramp had antislip material to keep it from sliding(situated on a hardwood floor)when our dog goes up and down it. Otherwise, high quality and meets our expectations

By some 1x1 white trim and screw in 1 foot intervals going up the ramp for better traction. Hardware store has rubber footers that can be put on legs for hardwood or laminate flooring.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Very sturdy and easy to put together. I would recommend that they add some sort of rubber grippers to keep it from sliding on hardwood floors. I put some rug gripper under is that seems to be working ok.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Thank you for sharing your experience! We're so happy to hear that this ramp was easy to assemble, and we appreciate your feedback about the base of the ramp. As this ramp is commonly used on carpet wood typically provides the best stability; however, we can certainly understand preferring rubber on hardwood. We'll absolutely pass the interest in rubber feet on to our specialists.

Great product! The ramp came on time and in a study box with no damage. The incline is perfect and allows our 17 lbs pup to access our high bed with ease.

I wish it had a rail. It's quite large and doesn't fold up. My dog still slips in the carpeted ramp. For a dog less than 55 pounds for sure.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your dog has had difficulty learning how to use the steps, but we'll be happy to provide information and see how we can help!

While we know these lightweight steps to provide a stable option for medium to large pets to reach heights, it is worth noting some pets may attempt to navigate the surface too quickly, or stiffen their legs and clench their paws when first introduced to a new addition like this in their routine. This reduces traction, and can cause sliding even on high traction surfaces. To address this, we would recommend working with your dog to descend/ascend the steps slowly, walking normally without excess tension. The easiest way to do this is often to have your pet on leash, and praise them first for placing their bottom of the steps and holding this position until they relax. In this way you can gradually teach them to go up the steps at a walk; once they learn that relaxing their gait helps with traction, this will become even easier to encourage.

If you continue to have issue, please feel free to give us a call at 1-800-732-2677 and we'll be happy to assist your further.
