We've had a cat flap for a while but the cats will only use it when the flap is tied open. We really want to encourage use as it's synced to chips not allowing in other animals. How can we get them to use this themselves? We have tried treats, shutting them out etc.

How do I keep my 5 year old female cat from escaping
We recently got an electronic doggie door. While we are training them we have it set to unlocked. Our 50-pound lab mix has pretty much figured it out. However we also have midna the Chiweenie she is scared of the door I think so because we had to buy it says for the bigger dog and every time she considers going through right after Sarah it smacks her in the face. It is light enough for her to push it open if she decides to they both had the same training when we first got it but she refuses
Our cat scratches at the bedroom door/walls at night. It is not about stretching/clawing, we have established this is her way of asking to go outside. She already has a scratch post she uses. We don't have a cat flap - during the day she is outside mostly. At night they are indoors and we have a litter tray. If we let her stay out all night she sits outside our window meowing to come in. If we keep her in she scratches at the door to go out. The disruption of sleep is become unbearable. Help!
I have a young cat brand new to home and I have a sliding door. I am wondering can a cat be trained not to attempt to go through the screen door?
I have two neutered cats who love being outside. We live in a mountainous area with wildlife, so we are trying to keep them inside but they learned how to open doors. We are trying to decide b/w a wireless pet fence in our yard where they wear large-ish shock collars (even though they are smaller for cats) all the time as the company says not to wear for more than 12 hours or to just put cat trackers on them and find them every night. Which is safer?
is it possible for microchips in cats to be dislodged a little? we're having issues with one of the cats and the cat flap which operates on microchip recognitions - its programing ok and working when we put his head right up to it but when he tries its not working so just wondering if at all the microchip could be just slightly out of place, our other cat has no issues and gets in no worries - if it is the microchip, is it possible to re-position or install another new one?
How to stop my 7 months old neutered male cat from escaping
I have a four year male neutered cat that has always been inside. He is very strong and rambunctious and since we have moved to a safe cat neighborhood I think he would love to be an indoor/outdoor cat. What is the best way to introduce him to the outdoors so he remains safe?
A racoon or possum may be showing interest in my cat flap door that is installed in storm door,... is there anything I can put there over night when closed to repel? Will lavender branch or rosemary or mint keep them away? Will keeping outside flood liget keep them away? Any suggestions or experience will be greatly appreciated. I love in new jersey usa. Thanks and blessings to all there.
Hello, I have a feral cat that has been inside for over 6 years. She wants to go out ! Can I trainer her to come and go ?
