Traffic may make you late for your pet's dinner time, but the PetSafe 5 Meal Pet Feeder has got you covered! This automatic pet feeder has a removable tray with 5 sections that each hold 1 cup of dry or semi-moist food. You can schedule 1-5 meals per day for your cat or dog using the digital clock. You are able to select the time your pet is fed down to the minute. Once the schedule is set, your pet's meals will automatically be served at the same time each day. When you fill the feeder, 1 meal will be available and ready for your pet to eat. When it's time for the next meal, the tray will rotate so your pet can access their food. If your dog tends to eat his food too quickly, or if you want to help manage your pet's weight, use the 5 Meal Pet Feeder to schedule smaller meal portions to keep your pet healthy. When it's time to clean the feeder, place the removable tray in the top rack of the dishwasher for easy clean-up. Trust PetSafe to help keep your pet healthy, safe and happy.

  • - Custom Mealtimes - Schedule mealtimes down to the minute to serve your pet up to 5 meals per day

  • - Suspend Feeding Option - If you and your pet aren't home, you can use the suspend feeding option to stop the feeder from feeding the next meal without losing the programmed schedule
  • - Top-Rack Dishwasher Safe - Remove the BPA-free plastic tray and place it in the top-rack of the dishwasher for easy clean-up
  • - Pet Size - Feeder is best for cats and small to medium sized dogs

Simple, Straightforward, Works! No Bells and Whist

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a good product, and I like it, but there are some things that could make it either the right product for you or not the right product for you and I feel like you should know them before you buy! I have a cat who is 10 years old. I work a night shift, and I feed him when I get home in the morning. However, on my days off, I am asleep at the time that I usually get home. And this cat thinks that the best way to get fed in the morning is to tap my face with his paw.. and when I don’t wake up right away, he will put his claws out a little bit and tap my eye and generally be literally the most annoying cat ever. When I got the chance to try this pet feeder I was super psyched because I thought maybe this could solve my 7 AM face tap issue! This product was gifted to me by influenster and Petsafe in exchange for my honest review. Good things about this product- It’s lightweight and low profile and can fit almost anywhere. it holds five servings of food. I set it to run just once a day in the morning at 7 am, because that’s when I need it. It was really easy to program… similar to programming a digital clock. It’s cordless. It’s relatively inexpensive compared to some other automatic feeders. There are some things about this product that could be issues for you, depending on your needs. To me they don’t really matter very much, but I feel like they could matter a lot to certain people. First, it runs on four D batteries. So I did have to run out and buy batteries when I got it. They are not included. Most things nowadays are rechargeable so this was kind of a surprise. However, no cord to lose, no waiting for it to charge. There is no indicator light or way as far as I can see to tell when the batteries need to be changed… So I have no idea how long they will last. Will the cost of replacing 4 D batteries be worth it? This could be a real problem, but I am just using this as a supplementary feeder so I’m not too worried about it. My second issue is that the display and buttons are very small when it comes to setting it. Someone with diminished vision or fine motor control could have a problem setting this thing. The display isn’t illuminated and could be hard to see. There’s no app or alternative way to set it. The cost of this feeder is lower than other automated pet feeders… But I feel like the simplicity of the design is one of the things that contributes to that cost savings. However, you have to determine if those features are needed for you. If you don’t need bells and whistles and don’t mind replacing batteries, this could be the perfect little feeder for you. My cat has no problem eating out of this and does eat the kibble. He still taps my face on my day off, but I feel like that’s an issue with my cat, not the feeder- and influenster hasn’t asked me to review the cat. I’ve only had the feeder for about a month, so who knows… maybe he will catch on, or maybe he just likes annoying me! I feel like depending on your needs, this could be a 2 star product or a five star, so I settled on 4, since it works for me, but I really wish there was some kind of battery indicator.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just got my hands on the product! My first thought was, ‘How will my cat react to it?’ I’m a big fan of the spinning mechanism. I’ve cleaned it and put in the batteries so far, so it looks good. The only thing I’m a bit worried about is the control. My cat is a tabby, and he loves to eat. So, I’m not sure how he’ll take to it. But hey, I’m excited to see how it goes!

Awesome for treats between meals!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Super easy to use and program. Very hearty and durable. Color is neutral so easy on the eyes and able to go with a wide variety of decor. My only complaint is how loud it is when it advances, but only because my cat is very skittish.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been trying the PetSafe 5 Meal Pet Feeder for a little while now, and it’s definitely made feeding my pet a bit easier. With a busy schedule, I often worry about missing feeding times, but this automatic feeder makes sure my pet gets their meals on time. I like that I can schedule 1-5 meals a day with the digital clock and set the exact time for each meal. The removable tray holds up to 1 cup of food per section, which is ideal for dry or semi-moist food. The tray rotates automatically when it’s time for the next meal, so my pet always has access to food. It’s also easy to clean, as the tray is dishwasher safe. Overall, the PetSafe 5 Meal Pet Feeder is a solid option for anyone looking to simplify feeding times for their pets. It’s practical and does the job well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The idea of this is wonderful. I have a very fat cat who needs portion control. It’s nicely made easy to clean and pretty straightforward instructions. Unfortunately, my cat is so afraid of it, but he won’t go near it.

Questions

Has anyone used it with canned food? My cat doesn't like it after it has sat around, so to load it and leave it, will the food dry out?

  1. I use it with wet food; I give two small meals of wet and two small meals of dry to my overly enthusiastic eater, Ebony. At 5 AM, she also gets a few kibbles or a treat in the feeder so she doesn't wake me up. With the wet, I add some water to it and it does well. However in the summer I was disgusted when I discovered that fruit flies had found her early evening meal of wet food, so I do need to feed her again twice a day in the "fruit fly" months to avoid their evil delight with Ebony's food.

Can I use this outside on a deck to feed feral cats? I’m wondering about the batteries. It will be protected from the rain, but we’re still getting some freezings temps at night

  1. I am sorry, I cannot help you as I don't use the pet feeder outside. This is more of a battery question than the pet feeder Although I have other items that use batteries and I leave them over the winter in Northeast cold without a problem.

Odd question: does anyone know if this device works while upside down? Will it still rotate?  I’m considering rigging it to the topside of a crate, so the food falls down when the meal dispenses.

  1. I haven't tested that functionality, but I don't see why it wouldn't work upside down. The timer is digital, but the rest of it is mechanical, so not much to go wrong. Food might fall into the mechanism and mess it up, though.

How do I order the gray color feeder? That is what is featured in the pics but the taupe color appears too. I ordered another PetSafe product from another vendor and taupe color came (when I thought it was going to be gray). Is it luck of the draw?

  1. I have the gray. I just ordered from petco.com. Do not remember if there were any color choices or not.

Is there a low battery warning? I have another feeder and I’m worried the battery will die when I’m away, so I’m looking for a feeder with a low battery indicator.

  1. Yes, there is a low battery indicator. Turns red when batteries are low. I keep mine plugged into an outlet with batteries as a backup. Great feeder. I have two feeders for two cats.

I just got this Petsafe 5 compartment automatic petfeeder as a gift and cannot get the D batteries in correctly! Cannot get the 2nd, 3rd & 4th batteries past the big springs that stick out to secure each set of two? Won’t compress down enough.

  1. We're sorry to hear you are having some trouble inserting the batteries in your feeder. This is not a common issue so we would like to gather some more details to better assist you. Please reach out to our Customer Care Team at 1-800-732-2677. We look forward to working with you soon!

I need to put my cat on a diet. So I'm looking for a timed feeding bowl that can feed my cat small portion though out the day. Will this feeder work for this job?

  1. Yes absolutely - this is a great product and I have been using it for about 3 years now - I have 3 of these feeders and have them set for 2 feedings per day, 1 feeder for each of my cats, and have not had any issues

I see a lot of reviews on this bowl for cat owners but curious if anyone has used it for a dog?

  1. I use it for my yorkie when we travel, It works perfectly. We have a 2 meal cat feeder we use for daily feedings as well. I would not suggest it for a large dog (15-20lbs plus) I think they could easily knock it over and get the food out.

Can two cats take turns eating from here? Can you determine how much food comes out each time? Can I program it for the 5 days? I’m going out of town and wanna make sure they’re taken care of

  1. technically yes but depends on your cats. yes you can measure the amount in each tray. the 5 days has to include the open tray day ("today" + 4 days). Once it's programmed, you just keep refilling it for continuous feeding. get them used to it before you travel. We have 2 of these because our cats eat twice a day. for longer than 4 day trips, we use a different programmable feeder (the big bin that drops food into a bowl).

What are the directions?  I lost mine.  Send back? or does anyone know where a copy of the directions are on here?

  1. https://www.petsafe.net/support-topic/how-do-i-program-my-5-meal-feeder I have to Google it every time because I lost mine too. Lol. :)
