I bought the medium to get my 2 cats to the sitter and back. The plastic broke around the handle on the way home- only the second use, and only carrying them about 20 feet from the car to the house. It's rated for up to 30 pounds, and they are only 22 pounds combined.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Sturdy carrier

It's a sturdy carrier - I love that the top and bottom parts are secured with nuts and bolts. This type of carrier holds up so much better than the ones with plastic snaps. It will last for years and years.

Excellent kennel for my cat. Yes, he is crate trained. He has outgrown his other kennels as he is too tall. He has room to stand up. However, the door is hard to open with one hand.

This size is from the Outside Side to Side and Outside Front to Back ...
INSIDE it is MUCH SMALLER ... INSIDE where your pet lays measures only 11x19 ... That's 5" smaller side to side and front to back ...
I purchased a pad for the inside which was the exact same size as this said it was 16"x24"... it doesnt fit at all because the bottom of the kennel where it sits is Five inches smaller both ways.
VERY DISAPPOINTED
No, I do not recommend this product.

Please know the curvature of the inside of the kennel must be taken into consideration in regards to the inside dimensions. Crate for an Mini-Aussie

Good crate for home use. I have two others in a bigger size for my other dog. I have not used it for air travel so I cannot give feedback on that. My only complaint is that a few of the nuts will not tighten all the way. I will have to get replacements from Petmate. This is being used for a 45 pound Mini-Aussie. He is big for a Mini-Aussie and would qualify as a standard Aussie if he was a female.

Is this kennel IATA approved for travel?
- Thank you for your inquiry. Our kennels are accepted by most airlines, however Petmate always recommends calling the airline and visiting the airline’s website to get the Airliner’s requirements on traveling as each airline has different criteria and specifications. Some airline carriers will not accept the kennel hardware with plastic wing nuts, which all our kennels come with. The Petmate Airline Travel kit includes all metal nuts and bolts if the airlines you are flying with requires this. The airlines do require for your pet to stand up nice and tall, no bending with their legs. If your pet has ears that stick up, the ears may not touch the top of the kennel. Your pet must be able to turn around comfortably in their kennel. Sincerely, Petmate Consumer Services

Re-asking this - What are the dimensions of the MANUFACTURER'S BOX for the XL / 40" crate? (I need to bring the (unassembled/new in box) crate overseas with me as excess baggage, and need to know if the box will be within airline size limits.)
- Thank you for your inquiry. As stated previously the manufacture dimensions are as follows: 40" L x 27" W x 30" H. Therefore the length of the box will be the same length of the entire kennel so it will fit correctly in the box along with the width of the box will be the same as the width of the kennel and the height will be half which is 15" as the top of the kennel is inverted into the bottom or base of the kennel and held together with zip ties with the door and screws nestled in between the two halves. The best way to select the perfect kennel size for your pup is to measure him from the top of his head to the floor, then from the tip of his nose to the base of his tail. The height of the kennel should be 3-4 inches taller and longer than your pet so there's ample space to fully stand up, easily turn around and comfortably lie all the way down! Too small and your pet will be uncomfortable; too large and your pet might attempt to use the bathroom in his space.Sincerely, Petmate Consumer Services

What size dog would fit into this ? Could you give me a breed example
- I just received this and inside where the animal lays is only 11x19 much smaller than stated ... my 7 lb puppy just fits laying down. Will be returning this ... hope that helps!
