My cat has a pimple on her chin, so I inspected this water bowl and…. Let me be clear that I have cleaned this bowl many times. I did not realize the extent of the hidden crevices and have noticed mold growing in nearly every one of them. The filters also leave a black dusty film on the bottom of the bowl even after extensive rinsing. My poor cat does not deserve this.

Have been using this for a couple years, and today I noticed mold growing in all the tiny crevices and clips they used to assemble the bowl at the factory. The filters leave a black dusty film along the bottom of the bowl even after thorough rinsing. I was prompted to inspect it because my cat has a pimple on her chin and has been itching her face often.

Thank you for your feedback. Please make sure you are replacing the filters every 6 weeks. Additionally, with any type of bowl, pet parents are to wash bowls frequently (about every 1-2 weeks). The Replendish base is top-rack dishwasher safe, and the bottle can be cleaned by hand. <br />If you have any further questions, please reach out to the manufacturer.

I had a Petmate replendish previously. This new one was a replacement because the old one grew mold and melted in the dishwasher. This new one does not drain into the bowl well because there is not enough space for water to flow. Even worse than this product not working is that my cat is highly sensitive/ allergic to the microban that is in the drinking base. This is a toxic chemical!!! It doesn’t even work because the 1st one grew mold. My cat developed a cough and had sneezing fits, and I couldn’t figure out what was causing it. Took him to the vet and they said “allergies/ asthma”. Had a bunch of tests done and spent a ton of money only to come out empty handed, $1500 later. When the first one got moldy/ melted, I replaced it with a stainless steel fountain. The coughing stopped. I thought it was from the mold, but when I started using this replacement, the coughing/ sneezing starting again ! I immediately removed the waterer and the respiratory issues stopped. Microban is a toxic chemical- why are we putting it in feeders ? This should be banned. Why not use a stainless steel base instead? I will be returning this !! PS my cat is a healthy 6yr old male with no health issues!

Microban antimicrobial product protection is a built-in active ingredient that enables products to resist the growth of microbes such as bacteria, mold and mildew, it is not a toxic chemical. We recommend changing the water and thoroughly cleaning your products to kill the bacteria. Plastic needs to be cleaned at least once a week if not daily. Plastic allergies are also very common in felines. We are happy to hear you switched to a stainless steel bowl that is better for your cat.

I bought the pet water dispenser with filter . My only concern when I brought it home was if my in/out door feral Missy kitty will drink from it. Fortunately she took up drinking from the Petmate Replenish Gravity Waterer the very next morning. Where we live faucet water is drinkable, having the filter in Missys waterer puts me at ease.

This is a great little waterer. It is perfect size for my 2 cats and even is okay for my 40 pound dog. I say okay only because she drinks a lot. I bought this primarily for my cats so for them it is perfect! Its probably great for smaller dogs, but I don't have any to provide an opinion on that.
