Bad batch

I bought these treats on August, 11 2024 I noticed that when my dog pooped that he had some mucus in his poop. Monday his poop seemed OK. I gave him several more treats on Tuesday morning and Tuesday evening he had diarrhea. I didn't feed him Anything Wednesday morning then he had a little bit of diarrhea Wednesday afternoon. I haven't given him anymore of these treats. Normally he does great with them but I'm pretty sure there's something wrong with this batch. I'm taking them back!

Bugs inside treats at treat bar

Sniffy101

I bought a little under a pound at the treat bar on Sept 14 2023, as it was my dogs birthday and these are one of his favorite treats. They are to big for him so I always have to break them into smaller pieces. Two days after purchase, I poured them out on a paper towel to keep crumbs from getting every where. I had maybe broken up5-7 of them and I started seeing bugs crawling on the paper towel. They were not there when I started, so I feel like they were crawling out of the treat itself. This was actually the 2nd time this has happened to me. This time I called to speak with store manager who offered me a refund and assured me that they clean the treat bins before refilling. I went end towards the end of the day, amazed to fine the treats still out, but was told all the treat bins had been dumped and cleaned out earlier. Problem is, is that the bugs are inside the treats so technically anyone who purchases the treats are also feeding bugs to their dogs. I'm extremely disappointed that care wasn't taken to completely remove and dispose of the treats.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Normally good, but has been making my dog sick…

My dog has eaten these for years. Normally she loves them. But, in the last months has had horrible bloody diarrhea, which came off and on for days. It could have been anything, but, my mom finally found a bunch of little bugs and stringy web like piles of eggs in the bottom of the package. It could’ve been just a bad batch. But it happened again. Both with the big bags you can order from Petco online, and the loose ones you can by per pound. After we stopped giving her them all together she stopped having diarrhea at all. Taste wise, she went crazy over these for years. But I would definitely be wary of them for now.

Great treats...just give us more ordering options!

Our 2 Lhasa Apso pups ADORE these limited ingredient treats! We keep them on hand in our office so patients can give the pups a low calorie treat. HOWEVER...Petco needs to give customers different options for ordering other than 16 freakin POUNDS!! We've only ordered them once because they went bad before the dogs could even eat them all! The nearest Petco to me is 3+hrs so it's not easy to just stop by one & pick these treats up when we need them.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Ginger Bears Availability at Stores

5 Stars for the treat itself. My dogs love them. But I can never get them at the store. I have been waiting for the store by me to restock since Dec 2021. They keep telling me they are on order but they don't know when they will get them in. One star for availability. Please restock store in Arlington Texas. I can't buy online. I have 2 yorkies and it would take too long for them to finish them.

Yes, I recommend this product.

They sell out at my local stores as fast as they restock, it would be nice if I could buy these in smaller amounts.

Please advise if the Ginger Bear Treats will be available in the near future. If you have discontinued them, are they available from another source. I buy a box quite often for my guest's dogs. Thank You!

  1. Hi Steffen, Good day! unfortunately this SKU is no longer available for purchase. However, there are a few sweet & savory options still available in our assortment and can be found in stores. 3941181 PETC-DOG 20# CHICKEN BLUEBERRY WAFFLE 3941199 PETC-DOG 20# APPLE CARR0T BREAKAWAY 3942829 PETC-DOG 20# MAPLE & BACON PIGGY Thanks

How much sodium is in these treats?

  1. Hi YL844, There is no sodium added to this treat. What is in it is naturally occurring from the ingredients listed. Thanks,

What are all the ingredients in these Mini Ginger Bears? Why aren't the ingredients listed?

  1. The ingredients are listed under “Ingredients and Analysis” and are:  Ingredients Whole Wheat Flour, Chicken Fat (With Mixed Tocopherols), Cane Molasses, Ginger, Cinnamon.

Do you know the fat content of these trests?

  1. While I’m not sure of the fat content in the ginger bears, I do know they are only 3 calories each.

Where are these manufactured?

  1. Have no idea, but the dogs really like them.

Has Petco changed the ingredients for this item, Cinna Bears. My pet is highly allergic to chicken, but has always enjoyed these treats. My pet started having allergies and when I went to purchase these online found they have chicken fat in them.

  1. Hi Campkris,' We are sorry, it has chicken fat. Thanks,

What is the shelf life of the mini ginger bear treats? 16 lbs is a lot and I wouldn't want them going bad before we used them all.

  1. I freeze them, and one order lasts six months to a year.

I’ve been checking everyday at our local Petco for the sandwich cookies that are in the Treat Bar. It’s been 4 days now, I haven’t been able to buy any.  Could I order them online? If not, where can I find them?

  1. Yes, you can order them on petco.com. they come in a large quantity, I put them in an airtight container and a year later they're still fresh.

The cookies that are like sandwich cookies that you guys sell for dogs how long are they good for

  1. We freeze them in containers and when needed we thaw. They seem fresh because we break in half for the pups. It works for us.

Any way to get smaller bulk amounts?

  1. Hi Steelers19 If you are inquiring about purchasing the a smaller amount of “bulk” treats on-line, we only sell one size on petco.com. You can go into any local Petco store store and purchase any amount you would like from the treat bar as that is self-serve and charged by weight. Thanks,
