How long do I have to wait for this to kill fleas?

QueenBeeZ

I applied as directed. I'm very careful about follwing directions. I sealed off the room and waited 36 hours before vacuuming. I was shocked and VERY disappointed to see LIVE fleas in the vacuum's dust cup! It doesn't seem to work, unless it takes longer.

Pet Armor Carpet Powder

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was given a sample of Pet Armor home carpet powder 12 month control. It was given to me in exchange for writing a review. It took me some time to write this review because this is a product that needs to be used over a period of time to see if there are consistently positive or neutral results. The main ingredients in this carpet powder are Pyriproxifen and Pyrethrin. When I am trying a new product, especially one that has chemicals and/or something I am giving/using for my pets, I take the time to read up on it, for their safety and my peace of mind. From what I researched, I discovered that pyriproxifen is low toxicity for dogs and cats and is a larvacide (kills flea larva). Pyrethrin is what kills the actual flea/tick and is also a bug repellent. Pyrethrin is toxic to cats (and fish) so I would recommend using in a household with only dogs. It is really important to adhere to the directions given on the canister regarding administering to the carpet areas and vacuuming. I used great care in the application of this product and found it to be effective. I followed the instructions. It helps to use a broom after applying powder on the carpet surface. The broom helps to get the powder deeply into the carpet. I waited an hour and then vacuumed up what powder was still visible. While this is being done it is important that pets are not in the area being treated and do not come into contact with the powder. It does not take a lot of this product to be effective so I think a 16oz container is a good amount to last for the season. Thank you for the opportunity in trying out this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have a den with carpet that faces the backyard. For some reason the carpet always gets fleas in the summer. All ours pets are mostly indoors (cats are permanently indoors, dog only goes out to use the bathroom) and they are flea treated every month so we couldn't figure out why the den always had fleas in the carpet. We realized there's a very tiny gap between the back door and the floor. We started to use the powder on the carpet weekly for the first 2 weeks even though it should stop them for 7 months. Our main issue is that they come in from outside instead of on the pets so we needed to treat more frequently than the instructions specify. We also put a decent amount over the threshold. Since then that seems to have taken care of the flea-in-the-carpet issue. Now we only use it monthly over the threshold for maintenance. We also didn't use a lot of powder; just sparingly. Definitely recommend for pet parents with carpet.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a product you must use when you have pets. Especially when summer is hitting. My animals are all treated for fleas and ticks but they still manage to hitch rides into my house. I could feel a few ankle bites but once I used this I haven't felt any since.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I want to start by saying that the product does work. My issues are all the steps and regulations you have to follow. It's not a simple task. I read all the instructions and warnings. It could potentially be harmful to humans and pets. It is my personal opinion that I prefer a safer more natural alternative.

How long after vacuuming is it ok to let the cat back out?

Will this take color/finish off of hardwood floors if dust lands on it?

cannot read back of container. I am trying to find out if this is harmful to be left down for a while before vacuuming up & if it is safe to sprinkle it in cats bed where we have seen fleas. I do not want to harm my cats or ourselves.

      1. Hi, this stuff really works, but, yoi have to be very careful. You can leave it down for at least 60 min. , , but, no longer than 24 hours. Cover all food & water dishes until dust settles. After applying to carpet or cushions (furnature) you have to work it in with a brush . After vaccuming up residue, empty your vaccum & do it outside amd place it in a bag, seal it, then put that bag in another bag & seal it & repeat one more time. Also, once done, immediatly wash clothez & shoes & hands. Animals & People cannot walk or sit on treated surfaces untill the residue has been vaccumed off. Do Not put on pet. I hope this helps you, there is alot of dust, so cover items you do not want to wash later (I put plates, utensils, glasses etc. in a clean dishwasher until the dust settled, just to be safe. Also, make sure you turn off all fans & air conditioner or heat, while you're spreading it & once the dust settles you can turn it on. I put my cat in another room until I was completely done & had changed my clothes after vaccuming. I also used a broom to work the powder into the carpet before letting it sit, then after an hour I vaccumed up the residue, I also vaccumed again the next day. Good Luck & I hope this helps, I would use gloves when applying & I washed my hands really well afterwords. I ended up washing alll hard surfaces as welll because that dust settles everywhere, but it's worth all the work to be flea free!
