Melatonin is helping my anxious young dog.

Mary S.

My young adult dog was very emotionally balanced until about 18 months ago. At that time I had a heart attack and he developed something like PTSD! And that turned into separation anxiety. He also became a bit restless during the day, although he receives plenty of exercise and socializing. I started with the full dose of melatonin for his weight. I Gave him a full dose in the morning with his breakfast and a full dose in the evening with his dinner. He didn't mind the taste at all. I actually tasted it myself and it smells and tastes quite mild. (Actually better than my own melatonin pills.) By the second day my boy was no longer quietly whining in the early hours of the morning hoping to get me up. Within a week he was seeming like his old balanced self during the day at home. I like that melatonin has not changed his activity level or his personality. It doesn't seem to make him drowsy during the day, yet if I place him in his kennel to keep him safe when I clean or work on crafts, he's fine and takes a nap for an hour without complaining. He also has stopped following me everywhere in the house. That said, his panic and anxiety attacks still occur whenever I prepare to leave the home or walk out the door. I learned from my vet that these anxiety attacks produce extra cortisol in the body, and it takes 3 to 4 days for the Access cortisol to get back to normal. With my boy, He is left alone three or four times a week, and that meant his cortisol was staying too high. This causes symptoms of anxiety and this is why he developed ulcers. I tried calming care drops along with the melatonin, and I believe if I had been able to get him up to the full dose twice daily, it would have resolved his anxiety and panic attacks. I got up to half dose with the calming care and I could notice a really good difference within 10 days. But not enough. However I was unable to get him up to the full dose. I He really hates the taste of anything I've tried that contains Ashwagandha. How I wish I could find a way to get it into him without fighting him. That is an important herb in a blend for Chronic anxiety and it made all the difference in my last dog who had Anxiety due to Cushing's disease. I appreciate having had the opportunity to try calming care and I would strongly encourage anyone with a very anxious dog to try both melatonin and calming care together. Give it at least a few weeks because it does take time; it's so well worth giving it a chance! I will continue using the melatonin since it helps him quite a bit. I will continue my search for a blend of herbs that address anxiety, but perhaps without the ashwagandha. Thank you Pet well-being, for honoring your guarantee and for your continued support.

Karen S.

The 3 part package for helping my pup and I cope with the urination pattern of Cushings has been a Godsend. She went last night from 9pm to 3 am without needing to pee. This was fantastic since we started at about every 2 hours 24/7....takes a few months, but stay with it. She's 16 1/2 yrs. old Australian terrier/Portuguese Podengo mix

Huge Help with Adrenal Harmony

Debra L.

Our poor rescue dog had severe trauma, probable abuse and abandoned trauma. She has been checked for every possible condition and her thyroid treatment helped with some issues, but we had to resort to anxiety RX for the extreme anxiety and stress. Although, the meds aided a bit her excessive thirst, Inability to relax or calm was still causing incontinence at night and that was with every 2hr outdoor trips. We were exhausted and at wits end. Ran across this treatment and although she didn't fit the standard treatment for the 3pk treatment, we did read a great review from another customer who described similar issues and relief from using Adrenal Harmony and Melatonin and thought let's give it a shot, nothing to loose. So after 2 weeks we were down to every 4hrs on bathroom trips at night and a huge reduction in thirst. After 4 weeks we had 1 trip out at night and rare carpet pee issues vs all the time. We have been on treatment for 7 weeks and she is now able to go outside and instead of pacing yard & getting overly stressed by neighbors pets, she would pace once then lay down relaxed and soothed...that was a miracle!! She had such a sad tragic start to her life and then within 2 years of adoption a move. Let's just say the move made things so much worse and even with a happy home, another dog (we call her brother her anti-anxiety dog ha) and more attention and exercise she just couldn't relax. She has been in our new place over 8 months when we started meds (Adrenal Harmony, Melatonin and the Mushroom chews) and she is so much more able to relax. So happy to finally have a positive outcome. I won't lie we have not yet been able to discontinue the anxiety RX but we may be able to get there eventually!!!

Great stuff

I almost put 5 stars but there were one or two nights when even this did not help. Andre is 16 1/2 and once in a while is up at night, sometimes more than once, and has a hard time settling down. They first night I had this I gave it to him not knowing whether he would sleep through the night or not but after 4 nights of not sleeping I did not care and that night we both slept well. I gave it to him every night for a while and then decided to use it as need be. It does help a lot and I am grateful to have it. I even gave him just a tiny bit when he went to be groomed so it would calm him down. Maybe I would put 4 1/2 stars if I could.
