Have a spunky new rescue chihuahua mix and she is skittish. So much so she will resist any efforts to trim her nails. We have 4 dogs so I have trimmed nails hundreds of times--but with Ricki Ricardo, no luck. I sit on the floor and flip them over and cradle them between my legs. My wife distracts them with peanut butter on a spoon. Besides going to a groomer or vet, any ideas? I thought maybe a groomer table might help. Are there premium nail cutters of higher quality than store bought?
Hi. Our 11 yr old Border Collie has a back foot toenail that is bothering him. It is long and crooked and won’t let us clip it
How should I cut my dogs nails? He had a very horrible experience at a new vet, 3-4 people held him down and he was being chocked with his martingale collar while they did it. I tried going back to PetSmart after a few weeks but he is way to scared. He doesn't want me to touch his paws. I gave him benedryl to help calm him beforehand while I cut them and the benedryl did nothing. How do I help my little guy? I feel so bad, and now they are getting so long their breaking off at end.
My dog will not let anyone cut his nails. He is getting older and they seem to be growing faster than they used to. He gets very aggressive… nothing will work. Dremels, different kinds of clippers. What can I do. It seems it’s getting harder for him to jump and run they are getting so long.
I am looking for a place that will clip my dogs nails, they're very long and there fully black. He does not like getting them clipped but he is not aggressive in the slightest but I'm trying to find a place to get them clipped at instead of going to a vet office and also when the next vet clinic is at one of the nearest pet store probably get him microchipped as well but I didn't Kno if any place would do just nail clippings. My dog's nails always make noise when walking. None of the nails touch the ground when she is just standing. Only when she walks. She walks on pavement a lot, so I know it prevents from making her nails grow too long. Even so, she is 2 years old and I have cut her nails only 3 times. Her nails seem a little long to me. But when I look, I can always see the quick. So I can't ever cut anything off. See attached photos. Should I use a dremel and slowly try making her quick recede? Should I ignore?
