Have a spunky new rescue chihuahua mix and she is skittish. So much so she will resist any efforts to trim her nails. We have 4 dogs so I have trimmed nails hundreds of times--but with Ricki Ricardo, no luck. I sit on the floor and flip them over and cradle them between my legs. My wife distracts them with peanut butter on a spoon. Besides going to a groomer or vet, any ideas? I thought maybe a groomer table might help. Are there premium nail cutters of higher quality than store bought?
Hello! I'm looking for an inexpensive set of clippers for Mia. She has, what seems like, a double coat of hair now and since I don't have the means to take her to a groomer right now, I want to give her a nice trim since it's getting warmer, and because I want to be able to see any potential bugs that try to go on her. I am looking for a place that will clip my dogs nails, they're very long and there fully black. He does not like getting them clipped but he is not aggressive in the slightest but I'm trying to find a place to get them clipped at instead of going to a vet office and also when the next vet clinic is at one of the nearest pet store probably get him microchipped as well but I didn't Kno if any place would do just nail clippings. My dog is about 5 years old and a very sweet boy!

My dog will not let anyone cut his nails. He is getting older and they seem to be growing faster than they used to. He gets very aggressive… nothing will work. Dremels, different kinds of clippers. What can I do. It seems it’s getting harder for him to jump and run they are getting so long.
My dogs nails are WAYY too long and she won’t allow anyone to clip them. She bites, twists, jumps, whines and growls when she sees the nail clippers even get close to her. I did mess up once and cut too far back so I know that’s why but I don’t know how to help her. I know she’s in pain while walking but how am I supposed to trim them if she digs into my hand when I get near?
Looking to get my dogs nails trimmed. Just not sure how he will do. They are pretty bad.
How should I cut my dogs nails? He had a very horrible experience at a new vet, 3-4 people held him down and he was being chocked with his martingale collar while they did it. I tried going back to PetSmart after a few weeks but he is way to scared. He doesn't want me to touch his paws. I gave him benedryl to help calm him beforehand while I cut them and the benedryl did nothing. How do I help my little guy? I feel so bad, and now they are getting so long their breaking off at end.
Which meds would be most effective to calm a dog down enough to clip nails? He had a horrible experience over a year ago at a vets and I have been working with him to hold his paws but whenever he sees the clippers or dremel he gets up and runs away. My other dog also does not allow his nails trimmed and will growl. They both need trimmed and general anesthesia is not an option. Advice? He's been to groomers and vets and no one can trim them
