I have a 4 month old Akita who does not like the leash. What is the best way for me to get her to walk on the leash? Also she is potty trained for the most part but still pees on the floor from time to time, why?
PULLING: Off-leash, she walks alongside me. Outside, she wears a comfortable harness(pictured). •I stop and use sit command. If I verbally praise her, she jumps right back up and back to pulling. She doesn’t do treats. If I don’t praise her, she’ll stay until I begin to walk again and she’s back to pulling (repeating steps during entire walk). •Gentle leader. She will not walk and acts too ashamed.
We have a power chewer ! Since we adopted our Rhodesian mix at 4 mos , we have learned what chews are unsafe, and to supervise him . He does best with benebones, antlers, selects kings if they are solid . He slowly eats them, spits out kong pieces . We are used to hearing him contently chewing . We praise him. . He is very healthy and happy . The problem: I was hearing him chewing and it sounded different . He was eating my husbands leather shoe! He is challenging commands he knows as well! ??
Our puppy is 9.5 weeks old , got him a week and a half ago . He is energetic . We put him on a harness and a leash . He’s just sits down and doesn’t want to move . We even tried to entice him with treats ,he barely goes for the treat , he just comes and sits on our lap not wanting to move , once we take off harness and leash , he is back to his playing self , trying for 3 days now , any tips . We let him be on Harness and leash without us controlling it , but he sits still or sleeps . Any tips ?
Have a spunky new rescue chihuahua mix and she is skittish. So much so she will resist any efforts to trim her nails. We have 4 dogs so I have trimmed nails hundreds of times--but with Ricki Ricardo, no luck. I sit on the floor and flip them over and cradle them between my legs. My wife distracts them with peanut butter on a spoon. Besides going to a groomer or vet, any ideas? I thought maybe a groomer table might help. Are there premium nail cutters of higher quality than store bought?
I have two bitches. A jack Russell cross and Yorkshire terrier cross. Had one 4 yrs from pup and other 3 yrs from pup.past 3/4 mths fighting but past week bad fighting so we need to keep separate though they will walk together and play at times. When they fight it's hard to get them apart. What can we do
My "pug tsu" is a puppy mill rescue who is very scared and only just started eating today. She still tries to hide. She has perked up and seemed excited to see me when I came home from school. Either way, at a year old, she is very behind in doggy social skills and skills in general. She doesn't know how to walk on a leash very well. Im planning to take her to obedience courses once school is out. Any tips until then? (I am most worried about her not drinking or pottying).
how long will it take for Nero to stop biting? And how to teach him not to? I try to stop him from biting by having a toy to play tug of war but that doesn't always happen. also if I try to walk away, ignore him, he follows and starts pulling clothes biting arms and legs until they bruise. If I scream a bit he might stop but after 1 sec he starts biting again. I am hoping that time and age will fix this.
Can I bring my cat to petco to get fitted for a harness and leash
I noticed this yesterday on my 4 year old Boxer. I was wondering if this could be because of her harness or something else.
What would be the best wet dog food for her weighing 3.3 lbs. 4 years and has Periodontal desease? And can I purchase at Petco or Petsmart? Thank you
My dog went to her first obedience class today. She is a 7 lb Malitpoo. The instructor has us use a choker collar for the first several sessions. She did really well and only had a couple of good pulls against my husband during the training session. I went to bathe her and noticed that the schlera on her right eye is red like a blood vessel has broken in it. She never goes outside without us and is always on a leash. I'm wondering if using that collar may have caused it,, what to do?
