I ordered an XS for my 6 lbs toy poodle and it fits great and looks adorable. I would recommend sizing up if your dog is any more than 7 or 8 lbs though.

No, I do not recommend this product.

What are the approxiate measurements for an size?

    I don't know about measurements but the medium size fits both of my miniature schnauzers who are at or under twenty pounds. Also, these are great sweaters for the cold/winter, I purchased them two years ago and the material still holds up. FYI buy a bigger size if you plan to throw them in the dryer after wash because they will shrink.
