How can I help my cats urinary blockage
Have a cat recovering from a UTI. We found a piece of feces in the little box with an odd color/texture and just wanted some peace of mind. He’s on a new UTI diet wet food (Hills) and is currently taking Prazosin and Gabapentin (so you have all the info). We have two cats sharing the litter box so we’re not 100% sure it belongs to the recovering cat Thanks!
Make Cat has been straining to pee and peeing not in litter box, is on urinary food non prescription, pee is small amounts also received probiotics and gets urinary treats mostly wet food and walnut litter, access to water and fountain. Has had it clear before with antibiotics,
Does the Nutri-Vet Pet-Ease Cat Paw Gel work to maintain urinary pH for struvite stone dissolution and prevention? My cat has a past history of struvite stones (8 years ago) and doesn't eat the urinary SO diet (wet or dry) She is a picky eater and will only eat the blue wilderness salmon high protein wet food when I gave her options. But, I read online that some pet owners have used regular high protein wet food in addition to this nutri-vet or other dl-methionine supplements.
What makes urinary food helpful for urinary stones or UTIs in dogs and cats? What ingredients should I look for in the food?
One of our male cats recdently had a blockage and we had to take him to emergency. We got there in the nick of time, he was going into kidney failure! Naturally he now has to be on special prescription food. The Hill's c/d he doesn't like at all. The Royal Canin he tolerates but will hardly eat it. I always try to mix something else in but it's just a chore to get him to eat now and the poor guy is hungry. He does love Royal Canin's dry SO food and treats. What else can I feed him?
My Kitty had UTI and US showed possibly crystallized mass in his bladder. The Vet prescribed Hill's Science Diet Adult Urinary & Hairball Control Cat food, which he has to stay on it, forever. My cat has not eaten in a almost a week. He is still on antibiotics and anti nausea meds, (AND appetite enhancer for last 6 days) to no result. he started drinking, but not much of food yet. What is the best type of food for urinary issues in cats? My cats veterinarian recommended a urinary diet but the food in the clinic is mainly corn based. Is feeding a corn based diet healthy for a senior cat to help with urinary issues in long term feeding or are there healthier options that are more animal protein based?
Cannot afford prescription urinary diet for cat who has had 2 UTIs with blood and sediment in urine, but no crystals or stones so far. He was eating dog food and another vet thought the high protein was to blame. We have that under control and have him on the Hill's prescription urinary dry food, but won't be able to afford it. Is the Purina One Urinary Tract Health Formula a viable alternative? The levels of key nutrients are almost the same and the reviews are excellent.
Cat urinary track infection
ello, I recently started feeding my cats Purina Urinary tract health once I realized one of them has a UTI. Her urine smells very strong which isn’t normal for her plus her appetite has changed. The food has not seemed to relieve her UTI, so would I be able to buy something over the counter to help her urinary tract infection that she could take with her Urinary tract health food?
Sr. cat with stage 2 renal failure. She struggles with constipation, inadequate water drinking, arthritis, toothless, cataracts, and deafnesss. She is on Royal Canin kidney recipe as the most tolerable of choices to-date (really didn't care for Hill Science version). Have been mixing with fancy feast kitty or adult pate, laxative and Cosequin. Recently found Delectables bisques to add instead of fancy feast. She seems to like well & I can add water, upping her intake. Ash content concern.
