I've used this on my driveway and front stairs as well as rear wood deck for years (plants and grass alongside and below). Nothing was damaged and any incidental tracking back in the house did not damage carpets, wood, tile or concrete as I walked through the garage. Keeps my steep driveway & stairs clear and safe; back deck safe when birds, squirrels or cats walk on it. Didn't damage shoes or kill plants either. I'm extremely pleased with this product.

It depends on how much is ingested. No ice melter is 100% safe for dogs in big doses but an incidental lick here or there isn't going to cause an issue. If your dog licks his feet after walking on this(or any melter), you should probably wash the dog's feet when they travel over it.

It 99% rock salt. It attacks concrete and grass, especially when used repeatedly during the season.
