Percorten-V is used to treat Addison's disease (adrenocortical insufficiency) in dogs and cats. Addison's disease in dogs is also known as hypoadrenocorticism. It is a disease that results from the reduction in steroid secretion by the adrenal gland. Percorten-V is used as replacement therapy for the mineralocorticoid deficit in pets with Addison's disease. Mineralocorticoids are steroids that help balance the sodium, potassium, and other electrolyte levels in the body. Percorten-V also prevents the life-threatening shock and build up of potentially toxic substances in the blood in animals with Addison's disease. The most important effect of Percorten-V is to increase the rate of absorption of sodium and water by the kidney. The increased absorption of water into the blood stream helps maintain blood pressure. Another important effect of Percorten-V is increased excretion of potassium by the kidney into the urine. It's used in dogs and off-label in cats.

Percorten-V is an injectable medication. Shake the vial vigorously before each use, and follow your veterinarian's directions on how to give the injection. Do NOT give Percorten-V intravenously (IV, into the vein). Injections are usually given every 21-30 days, but follow your veterinarian's directions exactly. Dosage varies per patient and is adjusted based upon blood electrolyte (e.g., sodium and potassium) levels. Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian. If you have difficulty giving the medication, contact your veterinarian.

My dog, 24 lb schnauzer, was just diagnosed with Diabetes. Vet prescribed 6.5 insulin twice a day, original glucose level was 450. Vet sold us Vetsulin insulin and told us to not shake, only draw when clear. after a week blood was still 450, reading vetsulin website they say it is suspended and should be shaken. Vet has now prescribed 10 units twice a day, I am scared this is way too much. advice?
A month ago my dog started vomiting and became lethargic. He got muscle tremors his stomach was swollen and his skin was tight and hard as though he was always tense. Couldnt even get up to walk. Vet said his kidneys collapsed and little chance to recover. We started Vibramycin, no change. Started cortizone and he appeared fullt healthy. His kidney tests appeared much better almost healthy. Now we have to stop the cortizone after 20 days and the first day without it he has same symptoms.
I am looking for recommend. for a legit, safe place/pharmacy (online, call over phone, etc) that I can get Cash’s medication cheaper at. Specifically, our Buprenex injections. 4 (one time use) syringes costs us $70 from our vet. He is on a few meds so just being able to get the Buprenex cheaper would help a lot. Cerenia is expensive as well for only 4 tablets but Buprenex is a pain med. we’re able to get down & is for emergency times so we need it. (Can’t get tramadol down by any method) thanks!
Our dog has been taking Prednisone for an allergic reaction that she occasionally has. She winds up needing it about once every three months we have been having to go to the vet and pay for an appointment and also pay for the medication each time. Is it possible to get it here cheaper?
What's the lowest weight a dog can be on the 1.25 mg of vetmedin. At what weight would the dosage have to be lowered? My dog is 10 pounds and dropping due to pancreatitis most likely but is still on the 1.25 mg of vetmedin.
