Terrible

Got it as a gift. I wish I would of just built our own. The materials for this is cheap, scratches easy, the latches such. I wish for the amount of money that is costed that it was constructed much better and with better and more durable.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I Love this tortoise box! I got one when my Leopard torto outgrew the box we built for her. Nice size hide with a big door allows her to go in and out with ease. Plenty of space for the torts to grow. I love the lid to keep other pets/children out of the box. The window is a great feature that torts love! The cons: This isn't great construction for the price, it is particle board. One hinge does not hold the lid up right. The black coating does scratch easy. It is deep enough a standard UVA/UVB would not be effective enough, and a bigger bulb or mercury vapor bulb would be necessary. Pros: Large size, good lid, good latches, great lamp stand attached, looks good in the room (Though we call it the tort coffin) Tall size allows for plants and decor.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I hate writing negative reviews, but this item is so poorly constructed that I find myself searching for a replacement after only three months of use. It was not easy to put together, secondary to the poor quality of the materials, and it is already falling apart. The manufacturers stated that a wooden habitat is preferable for tortoises to prevent them from scratching at the glass walls of a terrarium, but my tortoise spends plenty of time scratching at the wood as well. Not recommended.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Tortoise Palace

Great size and much better for the tortoise than a fish tank. Fits perfectly on top of our greyhound's crate. Assembly was challenging and one latch doesn't work. Door over sleeping area doesn't quite line up properly so opening/closing very often may cause a problem. Overall a good investment.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Can you connect two of them together?

Will this enclosure be big enough for a full grown Russian Tortoise?

    1. No. They need lots of habitat. I'm not a turtle pro but do have 2 box turtles and I think it's too small for them. But your russian will grow to be like 2' circumference.

I own one of these tortoise habitat and so far so good. My question is can I use a heating pad under the substrate? Most pads instructions state to use only with glass bottom terrariums.

    1. Thanks for your question. We don't recommend using a heating pad with this habitat as it can affect the integrity of the wood. We recommend people use a heating lamp instead.

I keep reading all the same things in each reveiw, and everyone says the materials aren’t great and at least 1 latch won’t work, but the they say it is a great buy, but don’t you think for the price you pay, every part of it should be working?

    1. I'm beginning to think that in the USA at least, in the past few years folks will pay Anything for essentially how you described it - not very good at all, Like they've had no expectations in years, the businesses have caught the same but and the stuff I see (on SALE, even) looks like you don't expect to I'lve much longer, so it LOOKS ALMOST good enough to pass for something worth buying if you're pretty sure you'll own it longer than a year, tops. I don't get it either, but ty the first sign wasn't subtle at all

How is the substrate held in this tortoise palace? Is there a tray that can be removed to be cleaned?

    1. No tray. Difficult to clean the palace.
