Great Tank

AmieP

I bought this solely for the tank itself and didn’t plan on using the light & filter that came with it. The tank itself is great. What sold me on it was the front curved design and the overall dimensions. The glass lid is decent, but I am having a larger piece of glass cut to minimize the gaps. My only complaint is that the glass on the back of the tank doesn’t have mitered edges & it’s cut a tiny bit too large which makes it protrude out a bit on both sides. The silicone looked a little sloppy, but not noticeable after everything was set up. The glass is pretty clear, but not as clear as the glass on my other tank from a different brand. I am running a ugf box filter + sponge filter + ONF Flat Nano light & am pleased with how everything turned out. Can’t wait to put my caridina shrimp in once it’s done cycling!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Light has no on/off switch! Filter is too noisey!

I just set up my new aquarium and I am disappointed that the light comes with no on/off switch? I literally have to unplug the cord each night! Now, am I missing something here, or does this light have a way to turn it on and off without having to plug or unplug the cord? Also, the filter makes too much noise! I wish I could find a way to silence the darn thing!!

No, I do not recommend this product.

I love the tank; my bettas do not.

This is a very sharp looking tank; all strong glass, bent curves and just about as open as anyone could ask for. And it looks great! Excitedly, I waited for it, and once it arrived and the cycle completed, I moved my betta into it. At first, the fish just kind of looked around and swam a bit. As time went on, though, he became more and more jumpy. The water parameters were fine. But for whatever reason, he did not care for this tank. Maybe he sees his reflection? I do not know. A couple months later, I moved him out of this tank into a more standard, run-of-the-mill tank and he is much happier. Later, I purchased another betta for this tank. He, too, just continually glass surfs and seems rather anxious.. Again, I moved him from this tank into a general, generic tank and he likes it much better. As for the filter-- even on it's weakest setting, it still is way, way too powerful for a betta. the output blows them around like a snowflake during a blizzard. I ended up buffering it with a sponge AND plants in order to have it be calmer. The suction cups that hold the filter on the wall also continually come off. The light really is too weak for anything at all, not even low light plants. At best, it will light up half the tank.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Love the tank, but I've upgraded everything

I love the quality of the tank, the rounded corners make it really sleek. I got this for my son's room and given the size the fish I plan on housing in it need better items. The filter that comes with it is too strong for a betta or shrimp, you can get a diffuser spray bar, but honestly finding it or replacement media is hard to find. Then the light... Not bright and no on off switch, not the greatest for a young kids room. I would still recommend the tank, just be prepared to upgrade the filter and light.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Item came intact and well packed. I appreciate how well it was packed, box within a box within a box. I cannot say anything in terms of the light and filter because I don't use those, but the bare aquarium itself is perfect for my shrimp tank.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great quality glass tank!

This glass frame-less tank is clear and beautiful with smooth corners for unobstructed viewing. Comes with a clear plastic cover, which is kind of flimsy but fine for now. I do like the mat that came with the glass to keep it from sliding. The light is nice and bright, although I wish it had a on/off button instead of having to unplug it every night. The filter is great but a bit too strong a current for my fish. However, the tank itself is worth the money all by itself. Very happy with this 5 gallon glass tank for my Betta, shrimp and snails and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good quality smaller tank. Thanks.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Nice Curved Corner Glass Aquarium

WyomingGal

Set this 7.5 gal up with fish, decorations & plants a couple days ago. Definitely like it - looks fabulous in my home! Glass is very clear & thick. The box arrived with a big gouge in the side that went thru both the outer and the inner boxes. Thought for sure it was shattered, but it wasn't. Put water in it & let sit for a few days to test and all was well. The lid is cheap plastic held on w/plastic hinges. It will get replaced in the near future. I bought this kit just for the curved glass tank. Have no comments on the filter and light since I'm not using them.

No, I do not recommend this product.

What is the thickness of the glass, for the 5 gal & 7.5 gal ?

  1. Sorry, just have no way to measure. However, rest assured, the PennPlax Radius series are nice sturdy tanks. I have 4 of them, various sizes, and have had no problems with them.

How many watts is the light

I have a tank that measures 48" x 18" x 15'. Can you tell me how many gallens it holds?

    1. https://landoffish.com/fish-tank-calculator/

does this fish tank come with a heater

    1. No, it does not.... yeah... "KIT" in my opinion SHOULD have a heater!

does measurements quoted include light or is it just tank

    1. It is just the tank. The light is another 3 3/8ths inch (just under 3 1/4)" It amazes me how little information is posted! Oh, the lid does NOT COVER the entire tank and leaves a gap, so you will have to cover it so your fish do not jump out.

What filter replacement does this tank use? Does Petco sell them

    1. It uses the Cascade 300 internal filter. Yes they carry it. You can also put your OWN filter over the back as well.

How much do each of these tanks weigh empty?

    1. They probably weigh about 1or2 pounds because I have a 10 gallon and it doesn't weigh much so my best guess would be 1-3

does it come with a lid????

    1. Hi Divot12, Thanks for your message. The Radius tank kit includes a plastic lid designed to cover the majority of your aquarium while leaving an inch or so of space for the wiring of any tank accessories such as a filter, air pump or heater.

hi may i know petco selling the filter for Penn Plax Radius Curved Corner Glass Aquarium Kit, 5 gallons ?

    1. The filter is just in internal filter. You can buy one rated for 5 gallons or you can get an over the top or HOB power filter. The back part of all of these tanks has a gap to put those in. Internal filters, IMO are stupid because you have to put your entire hand in the tank, then pull off the filter section to clean it and if you are REALLY LUCKY, it will move and shoot water out of the tank! Go for the hang on back power filters. BTW the light on this is REALLY REALLY LOW.
