Very cool. Bought for pirate theme 75 gallon. Works well. After about a day it settled. Did float for a little while.

. It is NOT an air pump you need to buy a pump. Once I got a pump I found the air was too fast and the lid doesn't open and close, however one can also purchase a control valve to slow the air flow. That said now it does open and close and aerate without disrupting the theme of the tank

When I opened this, the "jewels" in the chest were glitter that was not well glued down and falling off. If I had put it in the tank, the fish could have easily thought it was bits of fish food flakes and eaten it. I returned it to the store. I will say the cashier was helpful and processed the return with no problems. I would have exchanged it, but there were no other action ornaments of a similar size or price.

What are the two plastic items that came with the chest ? Are they to keep lid open ? No instruction

What kind of air pump would work with this? Mine might be too strong because the lid is always open.

I have the tetra whisper 20-40 gal attached to it. Bubbles are large and kinda loud when popping up top on the surface. the air pump came with an inline control valve to turn down the air flow and was able to adjust it so the bubbles open/ close the treasure chest. you can prob just buy an inline control valve to turn down air flow.

Why does the treasure chest float on its side. Doesn’t want to stay level on the gravel. No matter how many times I reposition it.

Hi Digg, Thank you for your question. Assuming you're talking about the Part # 064 treasure chest ornament, there should be a short air hose extending from the back of the treasure chest. This is where the air line connects to power the ornament. If you're missing that air hose, please exchange your ornament for a new one.
