does this come with a filter

Thank you for your question. It does come with a filter that is in the hood. There is a water pump that does into the tank itself to pump water up to be filtered.

Is there an option to only purchase the top filter/light system only or separately?

Can I use this for a saltwater tank?

Thank you for your question. This tank can be used for fresh or marine aquariums. It does include a skimmer for marine aquariums, but the air pump needed for it to work is not included in the kit.
