Great booties with minor caveats.

We purchased these booties for our rat terriers. They are 15-20 lbs. These booties enable us to play ball with our girls outside in Alaska when it is icy outside to prevent paw damage. They stay on during intense exercise as if they had nothing for running, jumping, digging in snow and fetching the ball or frisbee etc. We do not recommend use when colder than 10F without dog socks. The booties do stay on with socks underneath if put on well and sizing allows. I had to quick home make some sock as we’ve been experiencing subzero temperatures here for an extended period of time now. -24F today. Since we are only using these for outdoor play once temps stay under 32F and for going potty under 15F the original set has lasted us about 3 years between two dogs. Half of them have broken over 4 years but this is an incredible value in our opinion and we purchased again. We tried a set for our 90lbs pitoodle but somehow he broke all four within minutes . He does play harder than the girls or that set could have been defective. He doesn’t mind the cold as quickly as he is furrier and bigger. It can be tricky to get you and your dog used to putting them on. It helps me to have another person and rewarding the dog for letting me put them on them. I can not comment on how they would do for hot pavement or gravel as we don’t have that as a problem where we live. Occasionally they have slipped under the dew claw instead of over it but I’m not sure if that’s because how my ratter’s feet are (they are different than normal paws to me) but they still stay on. They really are great for what they are and the price point

Yes, I recommend this product.

Utterly useless. I have a fluffy fur dog and these boots require two adults to put on the dog and quite a bit of effort. They cut off circulation even when sized up. We threw them out instead of donating due to the band cutting off circulation even when upsized.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Rtfm people, they are not for extended use! When it's minus 10F and my bald pittie needs to do his business, these enable him. Put them on, send him out, take them off. Simple.

They are much better than the other boots that don't stay on. In the rainy season and snowy season, they are perfect for what they are made for. They shouldn't be on for a long period of time and fitted properly. The first pair I picked for my larger dog fit perfectly, my smaller dog I needed to take them back and switched them for the size up. All in all the are made for a short term use. They are very durable even though they are balloon like. Can rinse them and let them dry for the money. Beats muddy, wet feet. And they absolutely have no problems with when it is time to put them on.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought these a few days ago for my 100lb / 10 year old lab mix. He has a hard time with slick floors, especially at the vet. He wore these surprisingly well! He looked so proud and happy in his shoes❤️ I was skeptical and not sure he would even wear them. I would say give these a shot.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Didn’t last long… broke within first use. Ballon quality that is not meant to last long. Recommend buying dog shoes/boots over these.

No, I do not recommend this product.

PRO; protected them from the rain and snow.. Con; the top is too tight on the leg and hurts circulation. its just a rubber liner.. no cushion or protection meant from quick in and outs.. Not for long walks. It helped them in the snow to be dry but that's it...I would buy Velcro boots instead !! High priced.. extremely hard to get on but pull right off..

No, I do not recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 10 of 52 Questions

by saying the boots are made from "natural rubber" does that mean they are made with latex?

I need something for my one Shiba inus who does not like to walk or run on pebbles on walking paths.  Would these boots help to lessen the feel of the stones on her pads?

    1. maybe. these rubber "boots" are very pliable, like a heavy duty, thick balloon. these don't have a hard sole so your pup will feel a bit of the ground. i use it as quick walk "shoes" to cut down on the cleaning, not for long walks. my recommendation is to buy 2 different sizes, making sure these fit loosely on the paw; the band will hold it well. besides it's inexpensive.

My girl recently stepped on a bee and we found out she's allergic to bee stings, will these help her from getting stung?

    1. Yes, the boots are thick enough to prevent future bee stings.

Just bought a set of Medium to use for my dog's scratching her belly.  How do I know if they're too tight at the top?  She doesn't really seem to be bothered, so I guess I'll leave it on for the moment.

    1. I have another dog and we bought a certain size without having her with us to check if it was a correct fit. The top of the boot was a little tight, but it was easy to get it on her foot. I was careful to not leave them on for too long and checked her foot to see if I needed to readjust.

My dog just had to have stitches put in around his eye, he's having a hard time with the "Cone of Shame" but if I take it off he scratches at his stitches. Can their claws rip through these boots at all? Just looking for an alternative.

    1. Poor little guy! I use these boots all the time on my little pomeranian and he has never ripped through them. Then again, I have never seen him in a scenario where he would be scratching at something, so not 100% sure since they are thin plastic. Have you tried the soft cone? They sell it at petco and its like the travel pillows. Hope this helps!

How do you know what size to get?

    1. To ensure the perfect fit, please measure your dogs paw from the back of the heel to the longest toenail. This measurement will correspond with one of our seven sizes. Tiny up to 1" XXS - 1-1.5 in XS 1.5 to 2in Small 2in - 2.5 Medium 2.5 - 3in Large 3in - 4in X-Large 4 - 5 in. Please visit our size chart on www.pawzdogboots.com Happy walking!

How many hours can pawz be worn?

    1. Hi Meg, Thank you for your inquiry. Are you looking to wear these INDOORS for TRACTION? If so, here are some tips. regarding the best way to use the product for indoor use. Because our boots are waterproof (great for keeping the elements out, the boots do not breathe). The boots in human terms has the same properties that a swim cap would have. To help make the boot less constricting for indoor use, I would recommend that you carefully cut the roll off the top of the boot. The boot will stay on. I would recommend using a hole punch to actually punch holes in the boots so any moisture that should build up will evaporate. Please make sure to monitor your pet and to remove the boots frequently to make sure your pooch is comfortable. Each dog has their own tolerance level so it will be important to find your dog's threshold.

Would these give enough paw protection for hiking in the snow?

    1. Hello Arrows Mum, The boots provide serious paw protection and are great for hiking! The longevity of the boot is determined by the terrain, activity level and length worn. We also recommend filing the nails. We recommend that you keep an extra set on hand if one should develop holes. Enjoy the great outdoors!

Hi, I have a dog whose mother is a jack russel/shih tzu. Her father is a pure bred pomeranian. I was wondering what size my girl would need?

    1. Thank you for your interest in Pawz for your "best friend". To ensure the perfect fit, please measure from the back of the heel to the longest toenail. This measurement will fall into one of our 7 sizes. Based on the breeds you described, your pooch will either wear our XS 11/2 -2 inches or our SMALL 2 -2 1/2 inches. Happy Walking!

How much time can these be worn without trouble? 30 minutes? All day?

    1. Because our boots are made of natural rubber they do not breathe. To extend the wear of the boots indoors, you can cut off the roll at the top of the boot so it will be less constricting and add some holes to the boot so any moisture and sweat can evaporate. Please monitor your dog to determine the tolerance and appropriate amount of time your best friend should wear the boots.
