Questions
I am currently using the Oxbow mouse and young rat food. They are almost 4 months old. When should I switch to using this one?
- I’d say to start transitioning them over to the adult food now. 4 months is usually the age they recommend for the adult food.

Do they have it in stores?
- They carry the 3lb bag in stores. The 20lb bag you have to buy online. I definitely recommend the 20lb bag as it lasted me months with four rats.

How much to feed?
- Keep a small bowl full at all times. Rats will pretty much self regulate....they have a high metabolism, and need food available all the time, though they eat mostly during the night.

How much to feed an adult rat?
- I don't know of any "rule" but typically a rat will eat about 1 lb of food a month or about 1/2 oz daily.

- just rats.....mice and rats have different food needs. Oxbow makes a food for mice.

- I don't quite understand the question because of the way it is set up, but there aren't any apples in this product. It just has a fresh kibble smell that doesn't reek of protein and byproducts like most marketed pet foods are. Anyway, this is the ONLY food for mice and rats I recommend besides Harlan Teklad. Feel good knowing that you are giving them some of the best out there! Just don't forget to supplement appropriate fresh foods to keep their little bodies healthy!

- it's a 20 pound bag.....I have 16 rats right now, and it lasts me about 2 and 1/2 months. I keep it in their bowls all the time.
