I bought the pad at the end of summer because I had a cat dropped off at my house. So I build him a little house put hay in the house and put the pad on top it. It’s been so cold -5 so I stuck my hand in the house and the pad was really warm so I’m glad it worked as advertised. And he’s nice and warm.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Excellant Heating Pad

Heating pad is hard...not soft at all but it puts out really nice heat. I have older cat that doesnt want to come inside so I make sure she is toasty at night during the winter. She doesn't mind at all that it is not soft. She even likes breakfast in bed now!

Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re so glad the heating pad provides nice warmth for your older cat during the winter, and it’s great to hear she’s enjoying her cozy setup—especially breakfast in bed! We appreciate your feedback!

Extreme Weather Heating Pad

We placed this inside the bottom of a cat tower on our carport. It didn't take long for the momma cat and her four kittens to snuggle inside out of the cold. I would have to say they love it which makes me more than satisfied with this product.

I was checking for your website to recommend your product to a friend. We bought two of these for outdoor cat shelters, and have used them for the past 5 winters. Our feral cats love them, and we've always put straw in the shelter on top of them for their comfort. The pads only warm to the cat's body temp, so even though I guess the manufacturer can't say it's okay to use straw, we do without any problem.

3rd Winter!

This was purchased for a feral cat that kept coming to my porch. She delivered her babies soon after. I was able to get them all to the vet for preventives & shots, the momma was spayed after nursing them for 8 weeks. The mom refuses to come.inside but she is now our outdoor cat. She loves our yard and home. She LOVES this extreme weather pad , as it's been a life saver in good old Indiana winters. I have placed on the bottom floor of her cat house, plugged into my outdoor outlet, that's on my covered porch, constantly. I do turn it off during the heat of the summer. Buy 2 covers. So you can have one in rotation for washing.

Dublin loves his winter pads

Our outside cat, who will not live inside but has our porch, two K&H heating pads, and a K&H winter house with a heated pad, is thriving in our upstate winters. I'd rather he would come inside, but he's lived outdoors for his whole life, and he's been very happy for the four years he has lived with us. He loves the pads.

Questions

Can this product be used with an extension cord? Also, I have an outdoor kitty house I made from a big Rubbermaid tub. Can this product be used inside?

  1. MET requires that all manufacturers put the extension cord statement “Do not use with extension cord” on every item that is MET listed by UL 499 standards. MET suggests that an extension cord is not recommended as a permanent fixture and should only be a temporary solution when using any electrical product. Temporary use of a UL listed cord is fine, but consult your electrician for the proper cord for your application. For more information on MET safety testing, please visit their website at www.metlabs.com.

Is it safe if the cord is routed outside to an outside outlet while raining?

  1. Our outdoor heated beds and pads are water-resistant not waterproof. We understand that pets collect snow and water from being outdoors. Our products are designed to be used safely with pets, even when the pet is water-soaked. Please make sure to place the bed or pad in a relatively dry area such as a covered porch, garage, kennel or dog house. The bed or pad should not be placed where there is a potential for standing water from heavy rain and the product should not be immersed in water.

Unit is in a box outside the house in a covered location. The ambient temp. are in the mid 30's degrees F. Infrared measured surface temp. at 47 to 52 degrees F no cat present. It is drawing 41.3 watts. Is this normal operation and warm enough?

  1. K&H outdoor beds and pads are designed to warm to your pet's normal body temperature of 102°F when he/she lies on the bed or pad. When your pet is not on the bed or pad, the heat will dissipate into the air and the surface temperature will vary according to the ambient air temperature.

Is this heating pad the kind that turns on when the cat is on it and then turns off when he gets off the pad?

  1. So long as it is plugged in, it is on. K&H outdoor beds and pads are designed to warm to your pet's normal body temperature of 102°F when he/she lies on the bed or pad. When your pet is not on the bed or pad, the heat will dissipate into the air and the surface temperature will vary according to the ambient air temperature.

What is the watt rating?

  1. Depending on size, it only uses only 20, 40, or 60 watts. It's an energy efficient product that consumes very little electricity.

can this be safely placed and used inside a cat shelter lined with mylar?

  1. Yes, the Outdoor Heated Kitty Pad can safely be placed inside a cat shelter lined with Mylar. Just be sure the pad fits flat on the floor and it is not covered with any materials other than the cover that was included with it.

would the kitty heating pad be ok in the vinyl kitty house? we have 2 feral cats that are half adopted

  1. Yes, the Outdoor Heated Kitty Pad is perfect for a vinyl kitty house. Please be sure that the house floor is at least 14" x 18" to ensure the pad will remain flat on the floor. Also remember not to place any bedding or other covers on top of the pad, it should only be covered with the cover that is made specifically for the pad.

What is the difference between the mat for cats and the mat for dogs?

  1. The Outdoor Heated Kitty Pad is the same product as the Lectro-Kennel Small, they are just located in different places in the store and have a different box and UPC. The products are exactly the same. Cat and dogs body temperatures are the same, so any K&H heated product that is designed for cats can be used for dogs, and any products designed for dogs can be used for cats.

Can this heated pad be placed in an outdoor house that has straw in it.

  1. This isn't heated. It is only for window sills.

If I put it in garage, or shed, can I just leave it on ALL OF THE TIME? Or, would I have to make multiple trips out to the shed to turn it on/off?

  1. Yes, you may leave this product plugged in 24/7 and there is no need to make multiple trips out to turn it off as long as it has been installed as per the instructions. Please make sure to only place the cover designed for the pad on top of the pad, no other materials should be placed on top of the pad. As with any electrical device if you leave your home for extended periods of time, such as going to a summer home for weeks, we do suggest unplugging all electrical products in your home.
