Our Pomeranian/maltese is 17.5 yrs old. He obviously has lost quite a few teeth. Is this very hard and would be difficult for him to eat?
- Our ORIJEN Senior recipe features a medium kibble size which may work for dogs with teeth problems. Our Customer Care team would be happy to help you troubleshoot and find a recipe that would work for your dog. Please email them at customercare@championpetfoods.com.

Is the senior formula available for small breeds? I got a bag of the senior formula today & my dog (12 pound poodle) struggled to eat a few pieces then, picked the rest out of his bowl & dropped them on the placemat next to his bowl & would not eat it.
- Their small breed formula is for All ages. They don't have a specific small beed senior version. My 10 pound Yorkie also struggled with the larger nuggets. He is very happy with the smaller nuggets and healthy.

I recently switched my dog over to the Orijen senior food, but because of my dog’s recent hip issues my vet suggested switching over to the Hill’s prescription joint care food. Can anyone give insight on comparing the two foods and ingredients?
- Hi Clogdon - Our ORIJEN Senior recipe is not a prescription diet and features nutrient levels that are present for general maintenance of joint health. We recommend speaking with your Veterinarian to determine whether this recipe is a good fit for your dog!

Where is this particular flavor made? USA-Kentucky? Canada? Which flavors are still made in Canada? Thank You!
- No, both Orijen and Acana are made in KY. Champion dog food was bought by Purina, reason for food going down hill (quality)

switched my 55lb senior dog from blue buffalo senior to orijen senior. started off mixing the two dry foods and my dog would like the bowl clean. now we are just feeding her orijen and it seems like she only eats when she is starving. recommendations?
- Adding bone broth to the top of the food is a good idea, however what I find is that my dogs do better on Acana. Your dog may just prefer to have more of a mix of vegetables and less meat in their kibble!

I don't see salt or sodium chloride in list of ingredients. My senior dog needs more salt restriction . How does salt in this formula compare-naturally derived or added?
- I am feeding Orijen Senior to my 10 year old dog. The ingredients on the label show no added sodium. My suggestion is for anyone who has a dog with dietary restrictions or if you have specific questions about any Orijen product, call their customer care line at 877-939-0006. These folks know their stuff and can get others on the phone who can really help you with nutritional questions, feeding advice, and in our case special situations for dogs dietary issues. My son adopted an adult dog who was on prescription food due to allergies. I called to Orijen's customer care and with their help we determined that Orijen would probably be safe for her to eat. 8 years later she is still on Orijen and she had no reactions with a slow transition from prescription to Orijen senior. She was also overweight at the time and although she was a year and a half old, the person I talked to assured me that going to the senior food would reduce her caloric intake while still allowing her to eat the same quantities she ate before. She trimmed down over the course of several months and when she got to her ideal weight. He then switched he over to Orijen Original and has done just fine. Orijen is made by Champion foods and is a Canadian company that uses known regional sources for the ingredients in their food.

Does senior have any additives added?
- None that I have read in the ingredients

How big are the pieces in the dry food? It is small enough for a small dog (Shih Tzu)?
- My 12 pound poodle finds the pieces too big and he refuses to eat it.
