I've bought this product before and it seems like the flakes are smaller now which tends to diffuse more and I don't think the fish get as much before it sinks to the bottom or gets sucked into the filter (I turn off temporarily but since it takes them longer to eat smaller pieces I have to wait or turn the filter back on which reduces the life of the filter inserts.)

No, I do not recommend this product.

Good quality fish food, rated within top 10.The food is bigger compressed flakes that does NOT cloud up water in the tank. Very good brand for the price.

It’s actually pretty cute watching the little guy swim up and eat his food! Most importantly, I noticed how great his digestive system is after eating this! I feed him once a day at night and sometimes I’ll feed him once every 8 hours.

No, I do not recommend this product.

When I got my first three goldfishes, a employee at Petco recommended this product, and they are liking it so far - it doesn't have unnecessary fillers. But it tends to color the water - maybe my mistake, I need to give them less food.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Looking for non-color-added flakes that do not darken the tank water. Do these have color added?

  1. According to the ingredients they do have coloring added. I looked each of them up and they all appear to be natural. None of the fish food I've ever used has caused my water to discolor. The only reason I can imagine that would ever happen is if you were overfeeding extremely heavily. Are you certain something else isn't the cause of the coloring that's occurring in your aquarium water? If you've got a fresh water tank and you put driftwood in it, tannins can leech into your water over time. Tannins can make your water yellow or brown. It's not anything to be concerned with and will fade with time. Driftwood can be good for some fish as it lowers pH and softens hard water which can be beneficial for certain fish types.
