My guinea girl hates it. She loves her water bottle, but once I put this stuff in it, she seems to hate the smell and taste. Had to clean it out well, then go back to normal, and I supplement with vet recommended oxbow vit c tabs made with Timothy hay. BTW, the oasis bottle leaks badly once opened and makes a mess ! Avoid this stuff !

No, I do not recommend this product.

Guinea pigs stopped drinking water

I bought this then I noticed that my guinea pigs were not drinking as much water. I also did some research and found out that the vitamin c is all gone after the 1 hour of being exposed to the light while in the water. Luckily the lady at the store when I went to return it showed me the oxbow vitamin c tablets. They are drinking water again.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I have been buying this for my guinea pig for about 5 years. I do not put it in her water, I put it on the veggies or fruit I give her and she gobbles it up no problem.

Yes, I recommend this product.

How do I feed this to my guinea pigs?

  1. My guinea pigs consume their Vitamin-C drops daily, sprinkled on a plate of clean, organic, torn lettuce. I probably sprinkle 18 drops or so on top and they eat it up readily. I don’t add it to their water. Mine didn’t like it when I tried that 5 years ago. They need it daily. Their fur gets nice and shiny when they get those Oasis Vitamin -C drops daily. My guinea pigs have lived longer since I discovered those drops. This is my experience, and other people may have different opinions. One of my guinea pigs is 6.5 years old.

What is the shelf life of this stuff? I can't find an expiration date on it, only a number 2062 but nothing saying expiration.

  1. Vitamins don’t expire like antibiotics do. They become less potent over time. If you are giving your pet clean water daily that bottle will be gone long before the potency of the vitamins begin to decrease. I generally buy 4 bottles at a time (we have 5 guinea pigs). Hope this helps

When is this going to be available! I've been trying to purchase for over a month! I had to go to a competitor to purchase and am not HAPPY!!!!! Please let me know if another Vitamin C drop is available or should I contact Kordon myself?

  1. I use Vitadrops with the green lettering .  It’s a multivitamin with extra vitamin C.  I use it temporarily when the vitamin C is out of stock.

Can hamsters use it?

Will this stop a bit of shedding? She is a long haired guinea, but it seems like her hair falls out ALOT!! You stroke her and hairs fall off or if you barely tug on her hair, it easily comes off.

    1. No, vitamin C does not affect hair, nails, and hair loss. However, vitamin C is essential for guinea pigs as they can't produce it on their own. I do not suggest using drops because they dilute within a few hours and make the water taste funny. I instead suggest using Oxbow vitamin C tablets as they are the best kind you can get. For hair loss, ask vet because it could be a much deeper problem.

    Do guinea pigs need this?

    1. definitely yes

Can a guinea pig consume too much vitamin c?

    1. no, just like humans they urinate the vitamin C that the body doesn't need.
