Novolin N insulin is an injectable medication that is structurally similar to the insulin produced by the pancreas in humans and is used to control high blood sugar in patients with diabetes mellitus. Novolin N is an intermediate-acting insulin and starts working 1 1/2 hours after injection. The greatest blood sugar lowering effect is between 4 and 12 hours after the injection. This blood sugar lowering may last up to 24 hours.

can I give my dog human insulin for diabetes
Hi, I have a beagle female, 10 years old. A year ago was diagnosed with diabetes, she is blind, have cataracts. We pass vet to vet, and caninsulin doesn’t work, we try put once per day, twice, and multiple times per day. Even 60 units of caninsulin and her blood sugar never down of 400, weighs 16 kilos, I attach the photo of her last blood tests, are in Spanish, I’m from Mexico. Thank you so much.
I have a dog on Vetsulin twice a day after eating. He normally urinates less than 10 seconds. I consider urination > 10 seconds a problem with glucose. After eating and insulin tonight he urinated about 15 seconds. Then repeated the 15 second urination about 5 minutes later. Seems like I did not perform the injection properly. What do I do now? Wait until the next meal and give a normal dose of Vetsulin? Thank you
I have a diabetic dog. He has been on insulin for about 10 days. He has long hair, so it is difficult to make a tent of skin before the injection. I do not feel the injection is being done properly. I have had training at the vet, but when I do it at home I am not sure he is getting the medicine. Questions: 1. do I position the needle parallel to the body or at a 45 degree angle? 2. The needle is longer than the skin is deep. Do I push the needle all the way in? If not, how far? Thank you
I made the mistake of giving dog 5 units of nsulin today when his glucose was only 182. Vet was fortunately in office because within 2 hours dipped down to 50s. We got it up finally this afternoon. 145 pm 71 325 pm 157 / 435 pm 154/ 7 pm 67 - so I gave him no insulin at 7 feeding time. Gave him the 1/2 can (15 oz.) W/D along with 1/4 c. W/D dry food and 1/8c pedialyte (he had not been drinking all day). 9 pm glucose 170, then at 11 pm 294. I am worried about his kidneys since Friday blood work
My cat is diabetic, currently on 7 units so vetsulin 2x daily with a bs of 600+, my vet doesn't seem to know what else to do. Any suggestions?
My cat is ten yrs old and recently diagnosed with diabetes I give her 1 unit of insulin 2 times a day the food they gave me she will not eat!! So I'm thinking to put her on Fancy Feast she lost 6lbs and she needs something that appeals to her so I'm wondering if that is an ok food for her ???
I have a 76lb 10yr rottie who is diabetic. She gets 20 units of insulin 2x day. Tonight she got into some unrinary control dry cat food. What should I do?
So I've contacted my vet several times on this and all he keeps saying is keep trying. My dog was just recently diagnosed with diabetes he is supposed to have 5 units of humalin n every 12 hours even if he doesn't eat. His eating is terrible I've even tried all sorts of human food and he turns it down but I know he's hungry even foods he used to love he won't bother with. He has no energy sleeps way more than he should just lays around all day still drinking a ton he's not getting any better
Hi my dog was diagnosed with diabetes around 6 months ago. He is on 8 ui of caninsulin twice daily. He also had a bad attack of pancreatitis. I've just done a blood test and he's reading 8.2 . His blood reader is specifically for dogs and cats. He's due his food and insulin again at 8pm. Does this sound about right.
My dogs diabetic and her insulin was left out of the refrigerator for about 19 hours.. what do I do next
