The gate is nice, but it was advertised as 28" - 31". The box says 28.6" and my doorway is exactly 28". I got it to fit, but had to leave off the pieces that hold the gate at a certain width, so I have to pull it out a little every time to get it to close. Not as convenient as I was hoping.

I got this gate because of the reviews and also the fact that opened up pretty wide. The installation wasn't hard and my husband and I got it mostly together in 10 minutes. We have it installed separating the living room and front door area. How the gate is set up, we could not put back in the reinforcement locks. We figured no big deal. Still opens, still closes, done. Then as we were leaving, my dog walked up, pushed his nose at the bottom latch(not very hard, mind you) and it just pops out of the locks and he gets it open. My dog, all it takes with him is figuring it out once, and that's it. Now he knows this gate is useless. So for us it doesn't work. I still give it 3 stars though because, it probably works great, if you can put those reinforcements back in. I wish they made it understanding that doorways are not one size fits all. The gate is also very nice looking. It's still in the doorway, even though the dog can open it. Now it's more of a cosmetic separator for the rooms. If you don't have a dog that will push it down, or is Houdini, I think this gate would be perfect for you.

The gate itself it great, however, the assembly and the instructions are awful! I had to do a few extra steps and use some creativity in order to even get the gate set up.

The latches on this gate are flimsy plastic contraptions that look like they will fall apart after about three uses, if they ever work at all. I took this gate out of the shipping box and put it right back in - I'll be returning it tomorrow. I should have known, at this price, it would be a piece of junk.

Can this be opened easily with one hand? Often times we are going from room to room with items in our hands. We need simple one-hand action.
- Yes, but when we close it lightly the bottom doesn't always latch at the same time as the top. I use my foot to pull it closed. Its not a huge inconvenience but it's also not the perfect gate. It works fine for us when we're at home with our 3 dogs. My Aussie will still jump it so we just got a heavy duty steel crate for him.

It looks like this would fit for an angled doorway, can you tell me if it will?
- maybe, depends on if slight angle. The door mounting hardware needs to be vertical, can use shim to make close vertical, the gate has adjustable screws on all 4 points of the gate mounting points

Very limited info!! How wide or small will it go, can it be used outside?
- Thank you for your question. The Windsor Walk-Thru Petgate will fit in openings 28.6 inches wide to 47.8 inches wide. We do not recommend using this gate outside because exposure to the elements such as sun, rain, etc. can cause the gate to rust.

Does this gate need to mounted into the wall with screws and hardware or is the gate compressed between the walls to support it? I don't think my landlady will let me mount something to the wall that will require holes in the sheetrock. Thanks, ck
- Thank you for your question. Unfortunately this is a hardware mounted gate only and cannot be converted to a pressure mounted gate. You must install the hardware into the wall.
