Not worth it

When we opened the box to build it, we noticed a part was broken. We were planning on still keeping it but then we saw another broken piece. The price was not worth the quality, so we decided to return it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Opened the first box for the Jumbo and immediately saw the broken piece. We need that piece before we put on the roof. Called Petco and filed claim for the piece. Hopefully will arrive in a week but I doubt it. Not very sturdy so hopefully our dogs won't damage it. Not as large as I had hoped. Thin plastic.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Ill be honest i got it delivered yesterday and put it together myself yesterday as well. I will update in a couple weeks or months. Directions are almost perfect if you take their suggestions in advanced! One thing i would like them to add to them however would be make sure your panels are right side up before you slide them down. I did not with one and while trying to slide it back out the corner broke. It is not as study as i thought it would be for close to 300.00 for the jumbo. I was able to repair it and move forward without the now glue corner effecting anything. My puppy is 80lbs and tall as heck....I would go so far as to say this might be a hair too big for her. I still haven't figured out the top but am certain i can go back following their direction and fix it. Ill update more later.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Flimsey. Labrador Retrievers destroyed it within a week. They chewed it and tore it apart. I bought two of these. Waste of money.

I just got this dog house and paid somebody to put it together. Only to find out that it is not extra large. I would consider it medium size. Won’t even fit my lab mix. The flooring and it is also raised and does not feel super sturdy. I would say this house in the size ‘extra large’ is for a 45 pounds and under dog. Will be returning. Very cute though.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Delivery quick, package in great condition, if you read the instructions completely and follow them you should have the dog house together in less than a hour if you do it by yourself. I did buy a Jumbo because I did not want to spend money later, with that being said she is a little scared of it but she is slowly working her way in and out of it. We put her food in it and she does go in and out to eat. My granddaughter and my pup do play in it and right now that is about 80 pounds and it is holding up real good. I figure my pup will weight about 90 to 100 pounds so far I am happy and I am pretty sure my pup will also love it. I would recomment this house to anyone

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

What are the dimensions of the door?

  1. Thanks for your question. There are three sizes as follows: Medium: 11.5" wide x 14.5" Tall; Large/XL: 14.0" x 18.0:; XL/Jumbo: 15.5" x 19.0"

Door dimensions or link to door flaps

  1. Thanks for your question. There are 3 sizes. Here are the dimensions: Medium: 11.5" x 14.4" high; Large: 14.0" x 18.0" high; Extra Large: 15.5" x 19.5:. All come with screws so they can be added to a New Age dog house. The dog houses all come with the holes for the flap drilled into the upper door frame. As far as where they are available, Just about any online store selling the New Age houses will also be offering the flaps. A quick search found them on a number of popular sites. I did notice that they are not offered on the Petco.com site at this time. If you cannot find them, contact customer service; customerservice@newagepet.com.

If I get two houses can it be put together to make it bigger

  1. NO.

Is it good on rainy days, or does rain leak in?

  1. Good question. The designs for all of our outdoor structures have been created to prevent rain from leaking in through the roof. You do have a great big opening, the door, so depending on how heavy the rain is and if it is directed by the wind, it can get wet inside through there. A flap door over the opening can significantly reduce that wetness.

What are the dimensions of the JUMBO size? Is it insulated? Would it be adequate for a 150 lb. mini pig?

  1. I know that it’s large enough to fit a German Shepherd. It is not insulated.

If the jumbo is the largest size why do the specs say it weighs 54 lbs and XL weighs 59 lbs?

  1. Thanks for your question; it is one we receive frequently. While New Age provides its retail affiliates with a large body of information describing the features and consumer benefits of its products, New Age does not use "canned" copy points and require . If you look at the same new Age item on 2-3-4 or more sites, you will see a range of copy points. To respond to your question, the actual product weight (excluding the shipping carton) for the Jumbo is 71 pounds; for the Xl the weight is 48.5 pounds. Often, a site will use the shipping weight instead of the actual product weight and in the case of the Jumbo, because of its size and weight, it is shipped in 2 cartons for easier handling. In some cases, a site might only include the weight for the heavier of the 2 cartons.

What size do I need for two large dogs

  1. Thanks for your question. Large is a bit nebulous as a definition of your pets' size. The jumbo size would most likely be the best option in terms of available space and weight capabilities. The interior of the jumbo is 41.5" side-to-side; 29.6" front-to-back & 32.3" height at the front. It has been tested to 200 pounds. What may help is to mark out an area that is 41.5"x 29.6" and use that to see if there is enough room for both your pets . Unless your pets are of the "leggy" breed, the height should be OK. There should be enough room for both pets to have their own space without too much extra so they can assist in keeping the space warm in cooler weather.

HI there, I think I need the jumbo rustic lodge for my Bernese mt dog. I have looked on all of the websites for a month and all are out of stock. I was told they would come in on Dec. 6 but they don't seem to be coming in. Any word on availability?

  1. Good news!! They just were received and are, now, available again. Sales of all New Age products has been unexpectedly good in 2020 in spite of the pandemic. Even with a forecast and production plan for a good year, not prepared for what has happened. Regrettable shortages have happened as a result. I see you contacted us through Petco.com. Since they are an affiliate that uses New Age's drop ship program, you should be able to place an order now for immediate shipment. We ship within 24 hours of receiving orders from our affiliates.

I want to add a electric dog house heater in this. Does the material that the house is made of withstand heat enough to add this?

  1. Thank you for your question. Not an easy one to answer definitively as there are so many variables when it comes to heaters. If the outer case does not exceed 100 degrees you will be ok. You wouldn't want to have a heater where the outer case gets much warmer than that in close contact with your pet regardless.

What XL door flaps do u recommend that are cold wet and wind weather proof? What brands? I have a husky shepherd and he loves to sleep outside at night.

  1. Your best bet is the one that New Age makes for its houses. It has tabs that line up with the pre-drilled holes in the door frame and includes the right size screws. It is about the best there is to prevent the wind and wet and still provide ease of access.
