Is this dog house paintable?
- Good question. Yes, ECOFLEX is very printable. As far As we know, ECOFLEX is the only composite that is easily paintable. For best result, use readily available spray paint. I have had the best results using primer first followed by one or more coats of color. Best to do prior to assembly but can be done afterward as well. Painting prior to assembly also makes it easier if you are going to use more than one color. I have quite a few painted items if it were possible to add pictures to this response

What are the dimensions of the opening for the dog to go in/out?
- Thanks for your question. There are 2 sizes available for this house: Large & Extra Large. Here are the dimensions of the door opening for both. Large: Side-to-Side: 14 1/8 Top-to-Bottom 17 5/8; Extra Large Side-to-Side: 15 3/4 Top-to-Bottom 19 5/8.

Is there a door flap available?
- Thanks for your question. Yes, door flaps are available for all New Age Pet dog houses. If not on this site, it is on others. The door frame is predrilled to accept the screws that come with the flap.

Does it protect from rain?
- Thanks for your question. It does protect from rain. The design was done to make sure the only way water enters is through the front door if there isn't a door flap in place. Was tested to 6" of rain per hour.

How do you keep the interior clean
- The ECOFLEX composite that is used to make this item is within .05% of being waterproof. With that feature, cleaning is often not much more than rinsing the house out with a hose. A more in depth cleaning is equally simple just adding a grease/oil cutter like Dawn dish washing detergent. Access is gained by sliding the roof rail off and removing one or more of the roof panels. Dry and reassemble. The entire process can be accomplished in 5-7 minutes.

What iis INTERIOR dimensions?
- There are 2 sizes for this model; Large and Extra Large. Here are the interior dimensions for the Large size: Side-to-Side: 23.6"; Front-to-Back: 31.2"; Max Height: 32.7", Weight of pet: up to 80 pounds........Extra Large size: Side-to-Side: 25.6"; Front-to-Back: 37.2"; Max Height: 33.7", Weight of pet: up to 150 pounds. The weights are a guideline. The houses have been tested to weights far exceeding the ones listed above. Be sure to check online for the correct sizing for your pet. Particularly for use in areas where the weather gets cold. Many end up with a houses that is too big and it makes it hard for the pet to keep warm. These models have built in dead airspace between the inner and outer walls and are twice as good at insulating the interior as a solid piece of wood of the same thickness. New Age's ThermoCore houses have an even thicker wall with real ThermoCore insulation inside just like your home. edited 3/4/2020- Inaccurate dimensions were removed and replaced with correct, interior dimensions.-RU

How does it compare to an igloo in hot summer temps
- The testing we have conducted on thermal transfer - a method to determine how good an insulator a material is - shows that our standard panel is 2 times as good in thermal transfer as a .4 (3/8") inch of solid wood. Given that the plastic used for the plastic houses is a solid and doesn't have the cellular structure that wood does, I would assume that the results would be similar. If high temperatures is a concern, you want to investigate our ThermoCore houses which have a thicker wall with insulation between the inside and outside walls. In the same testing, ThermoCore houses were shown to be 2 times as good as out standard houses.

is this well insulated?? we have some cold winters here where i live and i need a well insulated house!!!!
- You mention cold weather. The correct response might be dependent on what is "cold". Anytime the temperature goes below zero F, all pets should be inside period. A well insulated house with a heater might an option if the dog needs to be outside. The panels used in the New Age outdoor products provide twice the insulation of a solid piece of wood that is .4" thick. That means that it can provide protection for a dog down to zero. The key is to make sure it is properly sized for your dog. An even better option is a New Age ThermoCore house which has a thicker wall panel and has real insulation inside. The ThermoCore house is twice as good an insulator as the New Age standard panels which makes them 4 times as good as solid wood.

Is a igloo dog house warmer than a wooden one?? For winter

Hi, i have a beautiful dog part american bulldog and australian shepard. 3 months and 2 weeks old 26 pounds. I wanted to know if it was safe for him to sleep outside my backyard. I have a dog house with enough room for him to sleep warm and dry beside my house. He is up to date on his shots incohdig heart worm. Weather in houston tx is around 55-70. I have a dog house with carpet over front entrance and a heated pet pad I bought from a hardware store. It seems warm and the 8 month old beagle goes in it but how cold is to cold for a four hour length outside while I work? He seems happy and the pad feels warm when I test it.
