(2) One FCC Lipase Unit (LU) is defined as that quantity of enzyme that will liberate the equivalent of one umol of acid (H+) per minute from the substrate, under the conditions of the assay. The assay is based on a five-minute hydrolysis of an olive oil substrate at pH 6.5 and 30 degreeC. The fatty acids released on hydrolysis of the glycerol esters are determined by titration with sodium hydroxide. (3) One carboxymethyl cellulose unit (CMCU) is that amount of enzyme which liberates one micromole of reducing sugar (expressed as glucose equivalents) in one minute under the conditions of the assay. (4) The activity of papain is measured in the FCC PU; the assay of which is based on the hydrolysis of casein. This assay is based on a 60-minute proteolytic hydrolysis of a casein substrate at pH 6.0 and 40 degreeC. My cat is 10 years old and appears healthy. Lots of energy and nice cost. He seems to have a problem chewing his Purina Naturals after many years of no problems. He works to break them into smaller pieces Is there a softer dry food? I don't want to go to canned food if possible.
I am trying to help a 13-year-old cat put on weight. He has never liked wet food but I remember helping an older cat with health problems to get some calories by feeding A/D wet food. Is there a similar super palatable food that is not vet prescribed that I might try? My cat's health is good. Recent blood work by my vet showed not problems at all. Thanks.
My cat is 15 years old and is not deficating like he should. He had to have 2 enemas 2 months ago, and is having trouble again. Our vet basically said there wasn't anything we could give him to help keep him regular. He eats soft and dry food, and drinks his water. His diet hasn't changed. Do you have any advice?
My two cats are experiencing diarrhea when eating dry food. Each of them has it like half an hour after eating. My vet gave them a “gastrointestinal enhancer” and antibiotics, and they worked for a while but then the problem still persists. They complain of no other symptoms and live indoors normally. They’ve been vaccinated. They eat mainly a dry food containing about 30-32% protein, could that much protein content affect their digestive system? Thanks
My cat has inflamed pancreas. We immediately started her on dry Royal Canin gastrointestinal yesterday...but I am not sure she has gone poo yet. I am interested in natural cures. Would it inflame her to give some oil of some kind..maybe some fish oil, or some olive oil? Is Tuna very bad for her? She vomited a lot on Wednesday and became sick. Normally, she loves to eat wet food...I have given many variations but she is only eating dry food now. Why? Is she in pain? She sleeps a lot today?
My 15 year old cat has stage 2 kidney disease. She shows no changes in her personality or daily habits. She will not eat any of the renal wet prescription diet food that our vet has suggested. What would be the best brand of store shelf wet food for her? I have been reading labels for high protein and moisture, good Omega 3, low phosphorus and alot of brands seem to be about the same. She is a fussy eater.
Which of the two dewormers is better for a 10 months old British short hair? Thank you so much!
12yr old cat dropping weight from 11 lbs to 8 lbs in past 4 yrs. had anal glands cleaned out week ago. Still pulling fur out hind area and tail
She ate about 15 of the Purina whisker lickins Yummy and Crunchy cat treats. She has always been healthy. Will she be okay??
My cat seems to have Hairballs they cannot get up. We groom them and tried Hairballs remedy food/treats and it didn’t help. What’s the next step? I can not afford to go to the vet as of right now but I feel so bad for them
Is it okay to give my cat feroglobin liquid? She is spayed and my vet told me to give her iron supplement. So is feroglobin okay or should I buy something else?
My cat has been puking up to 4-5 times a day. We have her on grain free food. She is indoor only. She has no access to chemicals. She poops regular. She has access to her food all day. Puke doesn’t look out of the regular. Just looks like chewed up food. What do I do to help her not puke.
