Too many dented cans!

JCOrt

Extremely frustrated by the amount of dented cans I receive with each of my orders. I ordered 3 cases of 12 cans each of this very expensive cat food. 16 of the cans arrived dented and, therefore, unfit to be consumed by my cats as they pose a health hazard. Calling petco to ask for a refund after every order is both time and energy consuming and I haven't had the chance to yet.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Cats LOVE It!

Both my cats clean their plates when I feed them this food. This is especially important for my kitty with IBD who can have NO chicken and has a hard time keeping down any other foods. My other kitty reaps the benefits of her issues by getting this yummy food too! Both are healthy and more energetic eating this food. Their coats are beautiful. And no more non-stop puking from my poor little kitty. It's is a relief for all of us! The only downside is the price. But give rabbit a try if your cat is picky or sick from the usual proteins.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Bone fragments in rabbit pate!

Kmm1

I bought a 24 pack of limited ingredient rabbit pate bc it was supposed to be fish/oil free. First, EVERY can has multiple bone fragments - really???? And, did you mislabel my batch bc my cat has been severely ill similar to when he has fish/oil. Your current ingredient list on the site now clearly says fish oil. Every website has the same product with a different list of ingredients. How is this possible and which is it?????

phosphorus content needed

Hello. My cat has CKD, chronic CHF and IBD so I'm working with a lot of varying dietary requirements for maximum health. Your Original Real Rabbit and Real Venison formulas are two of the only canned foods he can tolerate, so thank you. However, I would like to know the phosphorous content. Can you please post it for all to see? I see other commenters also are interested in the same info.

Cat has been eating this for years…

My car loves it and she is 16. Rabbit is also one of the only proteins she’s not allergic to. Now she has early CKD, and I was wondering if there was a way to get a max phosphorus, and a max crude protein on this. It would help me decide if I can keep her on this better quality option or if I need to find an alternative.

Adding guar gum!! to cat food

Trouble

Unfortunately I am running out of options with this brand as they are adding guar gum to all cat food formulas so it looks pretty to people who complained about consistency. They did smaller healthy batches of food without cross contamination but now they have cheapened this product because people whose dinner doesn’t look the same every day complained about the small batches not being the same every time. What a shame!!

Thanks so much for reaching out – feedback is very important to us! While we have been actively improving our recipes based on consumer feedback, guar-gum has never been an ingredient in Instinct Original Wet Cat Canned Rabbit recipe. I’m happy to report that we are currently in the process of transitioning all wet canned food back to USA production and eliminating all gums from our other Instinct Original pate canned food for cats. Please keep in mind, that texture and color may vary, because these are proudly made from natural ingredients and no gums.

No gums better health for my cat

My 4 year indoor only child blue cat Luther was ill with his first UTI. Scared me sick up late, injecting his mouth through out the day on the clock with fluids. Well I decided to research and cut out all gums in his food and treat intake and searched to find than fully this Instinct Rabbit food with excellent ingredients and it took him a few weeks mixing it with the unhealthy food but he really enjoys it purely now along with the freeze dried. Hopefully Instinct will make other wet cat foods with no gums.

No Taurine!!!!

Yazz100

I bought this in a store and afterwards realized on the label that there’s absolutely no taurine in this cat food. How could instinct save they’re putting out a premium cat food to better your pets health without having additional taurine when taurine is essential for a cats health, and it’s not an amino acid that they can manufacture on their own. They have Get it from their food daily shame on you instinct for not having proper ingredients. Also, why is there salt in your food? Cats have no need for salt in their food and it can be hard on their kidneys… Why do you do this practice? They don’t salt their food in the wild

My cat has eaten this for years. But lately, the food has contained hard shards of bone and my cat refuses to eat it. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it a bad batch? Has this defect been solved? I do t want to order more if the problem still exists.

  1. Hello! While we do not add bone and cartilage as separate ingredients to our cans, the meat constituents will naturally contain some bone and cartilage. We work to assure that the bone pieces are ground down and have specifications for the amount, size, and shape of the bone contained in the cans. The amount of bone and cartilage will vary based on the raw material being used at the time. We do sample and check all of our products and have currently taken our grinding and bone size down as far as possible. We work to assure that the bone pieces are very small and not in the least bit dangerous. We have conferred with our on-staff veterinarian on the subject and confirmed that bone pieces small in size present no risk to a pet. Thanks!

Please advise me which Instinct Rabbit food is best for a cat with Leukemia and now has water on lungs. We would like to pick up tomorrow. Has not been eating for 5 days. Thank you for your assistance. Carol Wantagh, NY
