Officially my cat’s “indulgence meal”!

AnnaAndTheCatGang

Instinct Original is officially my cat’s “indulgence meal,” and Luna absolutely loooooooves it. It’s a little more expensive than everyday brands, so I rotate it in between her affordable meals — and every single time, she devours it like it’s a gourmet feast. The quality is obvious the moment you open the can: it’s high in moisture, packed with protein, and contains some of the rarest, most nutritious varieties you can find in cat food today. Luna goes wild for the Lamb, Venison, and Rabbit recipes — flavors that are almost impossible to find elsewhere. Her bowl is spotless after every serving, and she always looks so satisfied, like she just had something truly special. I love knowing I’m giving her something that not only tastes amazing but also supports her hydration, energy, and overall well-being. For me, Instinct Original is worth every penny as her treat-meal. For Luna, it’s a full 10/10. Five stars from both of us! 🐾❤️

Yes, I recommend this product.

Why was formulation changed

Concerned pet owner

My daughter’s cats have recently changed from kitten to adult food . After reading so many complaints , you don’t seem to give explanation for change in formulation… with so many cats not enjoying what do you plan to do? What ingredients changed ?

Great pate wet cat food

Furmama88

My cats enjoy this food and it’s mostly high quality ingredients so I can feel good giving it to them. Definitely one of the higher quality “pate” style cat foods out there, and is the only “pate” type food I feed my cats (they mostly get shredded chicken type wet food from another brand). It is slightly wetter than other pates which I like because it means my kitties are getting more moisture. This also does not upset my cats tummies like some foods I have tried for them in the past.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Formula change disappointing

My comments aren't too different than the ones below. It seems that the product was really high quality and something changed. Initially I thought it was a few spoiled cases of wet food, returned them, received replacements that looked and smelled like the same spoiled food. I tried a few different online vendors and eventually went to 3-4 stores in person to see what was up. I am wondering what was the reason for the formula change from an Instinct perspective? Sometimes consumers don't like a product change, and understanding the "why" behind it helps dissolve frustrations. Also, a question for Instinct leaders - are there plans to return to the original formula, or will it be staying as is moving forward? This product was so great!

Formula Change Cat Hates

Blair

I have been feeding our cats Instinct for 15 years and my cats won't eat the new formula. Why they added all of the vegetables/fruits to the new formula makes no sense. Cats are carnivores and don't eat vegetables nor nutritionally require them. The reason we selected Nature's Variety Instinct cat food was because of the small amount of peas and carrots in their food. I can't believe that Nature's Variety would change their formula without warning. I had to call to find out what was going on with the pieces of what I think are carrots throughout the cat food. In the old formula you could see chunks or carrots and whole peas in the food which my cats wouldn't eat and could eat around them. In the new food they can't eat around the vegetables/fruits. I am going to have to look for a new food.

Something has changed

I have a sphynx cat with a very sensitive stomach and something has changed with this food. I've always gotten the original rabbit pate as it's the only food he tolerated well. He has refused to eat it the new case and become skeletal. He licked the liquid off but wouldn't eat the food. Our newest case had one random can of limited ingredient rabbit so I tried it and he ate it quickly. I've ordered a case of limited ingredient now so hopefully we can get him back to health. Please let consumers know when you change recipes as this nearly killed my cat.

Bought an entire case of this food but I waited for their other food to be gone and it's past 30 days. How do I get my cats to eat it?

  1. My cats refused to eat after eating it for awhile and there’s hardly any moisture very dry when it use to be moist and not dry. I would try putting there favorite liquid on it to make it moist for cats they might eat it.
