About how many cups are in a 6 pound bag?
- I had to call the manufacturer (their phone number is on the back of each bag) to be sure and accurate for the answer. I had to leave a vm and a vm response was given back with 3 hours. She said that using a level, fairly packed 1 cup (dry ingredient) measuring cup, a 6 lb. bag of Instinct Raw bites would yield about 22 cups. My dogs LOVE this food and still go crazy for it daily even after eating it regularly for at least 2 years. They ate extremely healthy and happy rescue dogs!! Petco often has 20% to 25 % off if you order it online and pick-up in store with no minimums or maximums to help with the cost.

This is a completely solid 6 lb block. How are we supposed to stay within the "thawing" and "feed by" guidelines if you are trying to give your dog just ONE serving? Are we to take a hammer and chisel to it to break off one serving at a time? Help!
- LOL! I can relate! Now I take a cooler with some ice packs when I go to buy my frozen Instinct Raw Bites so they don't start to thaw on the way home and end up refreezing into a solid block at home. Then, before I open each bag, I drop it onto the vinyl floor in the kitchen, flat on each side, to break up the bits inside. Once I do that, I open the bag and only take out what I need for each meal before quickly putting the bag back into the freezer. It is possible that the store you got it from didn't get it into their freezer fast enough, which would make it into a solid block before you even buy it. Just check when you take it out of their freezer to be sure the bits are not already stuck together. If they are, you could try dropping the bag (flat on its side) onto their floor. If that loosens up the bits then buy it, but if it stays solid you'll definitely need that hammer and chisel if you take it home! Another thing you could do with what you already have, is let the whole bag thaw in the fridge for several hours to overnight, then divide it into meal size portions and refreeze in ziploc bags. I think of it like any other raw meat I keep in the fridge - it's good for a few days unfrozen, but not much more. Since I don't know how long the raw bites were unfrozen during processing, I just keep the unfrozen time to a minimum. My cat and pups have never gotten sick from it the way I handle it.

Can I feed this to my 13 week old puppy?

I accidentally put bag of food in refrigerator overnight then realized it was suppose to be frozen, so then put in freezer. Is the food still good ? Thank you
- Hi there! We would not recommend re-freezing this food once it has been fully thawed. Once it is thawed, it is best to use it within 24 hours.
