This has been our first choice for 10 years! This stuff is fantastic and our dog loves it! However, we’re going to have switch due to discontinuing the smaller bags… why did you stop selling them??

Excellent Kibble

Excellent kibble, dog loves it and it agrees with his stomach but unfortunately we had to stop purchasing when they discontinued the 4 lb bags. The giant bags are too much for our small dog. Please consider bringing back the small bags.

Instinct Be Natural is a wonderful product

Judie

My Coton has been on Instinct Be Natural for years. I change from Chicken, to Lamb, to Beef after each bag is finished. When I change dog foods he vomits, but he has never done this with Instinct and he really seems to enjoy the flavor. He is a Therapy Dog, Ruff Reader Dog and an emotional support dog for the court system here. It's important that he stays healthy and alert. With Instinct Be Natural I am confident that he will remain healthy and happy. I have found that the stores that I buy it from no longer carry the smaller bags.

Canola Oil

We are in the process of switching our dog from the puppy food to adult dog food and was disappointed to see that canola oil is used in place of chicken fat in both the lamb and salmon recipe. We won’t be using either of those recipes now.

Thank you for leaving a review! Our canola oil is sourced from the United States and is obtained from hybridized rapeseed. These special rapeseed plants have been bred to be free of toxic gossypol. The end result was the canola plant, a version of the rapeseed plant but very low in erucic acid. So, through traditional breeding techniques, it has been modified from its original form. Canola Oil is low-allergen oil, also considered to be beneficial due to its low saturated fat and high monounsaturated oil content – the latter almost 60%. It also has a favorable omega-3 fatty acid profile. Canola oil is safe for animals and was required to go through stringent animal feeding trials to ensure it was a safe, edible oil. In the meantime, we will certainly pass your concerns along to our Research & Development and Quality Assurance Teams. At Instinct, we’re constantly evaluating our products and striving to make improvements. We appreciate the time you took to provide your feedback.

Best for sensitive stomach

Lela

I tried many dog foods before finding this one. Every food I tried before would eventually turn on my dogs stomach regardless of the protein or whether it had grain or not. She has never had any problems with any Instinct brand food and I believe it’s because their food is less processed than other major dog food brands.

Shipping was a problem

Goldengrl

The box that my 25 lb bag of Instinct Be Natural was shipped in fell apart during shipment. The tape on the box didn't hold and what ended up in front of my front door was an open box with half of the bag of dog food laying on the porch for my neighbors to see.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Kibble not small enough

cab07

I wish the kibble were smaller, so that it’d be easier for my dog to eat. I probably won’t get it again because of the size of the kibble. I can tell he’s struggling.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Questions

What is montmorillonite clay and what are the benefits of it and what is the nutritional value?

  1. From what I understand, it's a soft group of minerals that, when mixed with moisture, forms microscopic crystals that's known as clay. Benefits: Expels toxins and unwanted metals from the body. It has antibacterial properties to ward off viruses and pathogens such as E- coli. It provides sodium, calcium, hydrogen and oxygen. I did read up on it from the Web. There are more and more Vets using this.

Can I use this for dog’s that will grow to around 80 pounds?

  1. Yes, I've used it on my foster and he ended up being a little over 90#. It is really good food.

What amount would you feed a 35-50lb 5 yr old Female dog? Instinct Natural chicken

  1. Hi there! You can find a recommended feeding guideline here on Petco's product page under the tab "directions'. You can also find one on our website under the tab "feeding guidelines". Thanks! https://www.instinctpetfood.com/dogs/be-natural/instinct-be-natural-real-chicken-brown-rice-recipe

Do I need to add water to your foods like other freeze dried brands?

  1. No, not to the dry dog food unless your furbaby likes it a bit moisten. My 3 love this dry even with a little bit of bananas which they go crazy over. Haha
